After seeing all of the other USA AA leagues power rankings and reading all of the friendly trash-talk and boasting on our own thread, I thought I'd list my Official-Unofficial Power Rankings for USA AA #4. This power ranking is in it's early stages with only 5 games into the season, but I hope to add more information as to depth rankings and Offensive/Defensive rankings at a later date. For this ranking I put a large emphasis on who you've played thus far, rather than team stats because of some of the stat padding blowouts we've seen. So here we go:
Rank Prv Rank Team Name Rec
1 (-) Cincinnati Shockers 5-0
Comments: Played 3 Playoff (Top 8 right now) teams, 2 of which I believe to finish in the Top 4 of the East by seasons end (Alabama and Chicago). Next Game: Pittsburgh Powerhouse
2 (-) Denton Spartans 5-0
Comments: Played 2 Playoff teams and have showen that winning the USA CCC was no fluke. On a 10 game winning streak that dates back to last season Next Game: Austin Cyber-Demons
3 (-) Brooklyn Maulers 5-0
Comments: Beat Seattle Thunder, who has the toughest Strength of Schedule (SOS) in the West and didn't overlook the Washington Warpath which is another team to watch for in the West. Next Game: Protorville Predators
4 (-) Alabama Crimson Tide 4-1
Comments: Beat 2 playoff teams and has the hardest SOS (16-9) for a 4-1 team. Next Game: Dallas Lampshades
5 (-) Oklahoma Sooners 4-1
Comments: Beat 2 playoff teams and was a TD away from being 5-0. Next Game: Jacksonville Barracudas
6 (-) Green Bay Maulers 5-0
Comments: Easiest SOS with 6-19 and it gets easier next week. Next Game: Boston Massacre
7 (-) Seattle Thunder 3-2
Comments: Beat 2 of the top 6 (Austin & Spokane) and both losses come against 2 of the top 6 (Oklahoma & Brooklyn). Look for them to move up the rankings over the next 3 weeks. Next Game: Colorado Blizzards
8 (-) New York Bulldogs 4-1
Comments: Only loss came by 1 point to Alabama and they've blown out the teams they should beat. Next Game: Athens Scoregasms
9 (-) Austin Cyber-Demons 3-2
Comments: Both losses came by 3 points or less against two Playoff teams. Lets see if they can squeeze one out against Denton. Next Game: Denton Spartans
10 (-) Cape Cod Jagged Shoals 1-4
Comments: I know, you're thinking how can a 1-4 team be ranked higher than four 4-1 teams?!? Because they've played the big boys and they've proven they can win in the playoffs (CCC Runner Up Champions). Cape Cod needs to prove it's worth after going 1-4 with the toughest SOS (19-6) in all of AA #4. The next 3 games need to be W's. Next Game: Baltimore Stars
Obvisously the rankings will change quite a bit over the next couple of games, but any input or help is appreciated.
p.s. Before all of the "HOMER" comments start to get posted, I do have players on Cincinnati. I did not place them #1 because of that and I feel that anyone in the top 6 could be ranked #1 right now. I put them there because they've had the toughest SOS for a 5-0 team.
