It would be great if, for instance, you could set your defensive player to power tackling when the ball is your opponents half of the field, balanced from the 50 to the red zone, then wrap-up inside your own red zone. Basically, it would be great to be able to set how aggressively a defender goes for the fumble based on field position.

This could apply to offensive players as well. Maybe a balanced back plays more elusive when most of the field is open in front of them, but plays more of a power style when on closer to the goal line, or on short yardage situations.

Note that I have never looked at AI, and there might be settings in there for coordinators to play with this, I'm suggesting that individual players should be able to set it, as well.

That is one of the best suggestions I have seen in a while +1

This has a lot of upside. T^he biggest in my mind being a return guy could go elusive on returns, but back to balanced for rushing/routes.

The only downside I can see is the interpretation of the idea of tactics being 'that is how you prepared for the game'. So, you spent all week practicing wrap up tackling, or elusive running, or aggressive coverage, or whatever.

I've tossed this out there before...essentially, make individual AI similar to team AI. Lets you lay big hits on WRs, smaller ones on RBs, aggressively go for picks when trailing, swat when winning, etc.

Yea this has been suggested before and dies off for some odd reason. I would love to see this in place. This could give players something to do to keep them interested in the game.

I'm not even talking about things that are that in depth. Some of those I think should stay at the GM gameplanning level. However, having the ability for a lb to go for the fumble or wrap up at certain parts of the field seems like something that would be easily implemented.

This does have a huge upside, though what do you do when you don't know how players are setting up? That's the biggest mistake in my book with this game, is that I've seen numerous times that you don't know if/when players are setting according to the game plan. You also have players that only care about stats vs. the outcome of the game. I could see a lot of complaining in the forums with this one.

Agreed, but I don't think it would be any worse than the problem as it exists now. Actually, some players might stick closer to the gameplan as a result. I have a couple of lb's, to be honest, I could care less about tackles and missed tackles, I like to go for the fumble. I am a team player, though, and set to wrap-up when my GM requests. You're right, other agents do not. This would give them an outlet, as they can tackle with power at times, but still use a wrap-up style in situations when it was better for the team.

I just know that it's very aggrivating when you spend countless hours in preparation for a big game, and out of 10-20 agents you have on your team, you get a "set" out of 4 people. It's even more aggrivating when you see plays that were potentially broken because one of those people who failed to set up/post that they were set up were the cause of that broken play.

It could certainly be a much bigger issue if you have a setting for force fumble, and the agent doesn't change to wrap up, and a big play decides a game's outcome. If it were possible for GM's to see how individual tactics were set up, especially if an agent will not be online, then it wouldn't be an issue imo, but I believe that's on the NGTH list.

i like the defensive point. not so much the offenses. you don't see LenDale White turning on super elusive when he is in the open field. he is still running straight and fucking up whoever gets in his way.

however, you do see a guy like Ray Lewis, who will knock your block off if you are backed up inside your 20. if you are down by his 20, he will just make a text book tackle, and not try to get the big hit, incase your break it, juke it, and then walk right into the endzone. (Brian Urlacher as well) i see Urlacher cleaning people's clocks week after week. but, he will make a goalline stand like no other LB, because he wraps up and drives rather than throwing a shoulder.

Good point for the offense.
What about returners, though? It might be nice to have a different set of tactics for when a player is returning kicks or is in a 'regular' play.
