Alright,
I am in the military and the way we call for artillery/mortar fire is to Adjust Fire. That means you try to hit your target based on your own calculations, then when the round is short/over, you OVERCORRECT to BRACKET the target in alternating directions in order to close in on the target and get that "direct Hit"
Same can be done for the slider:
Here is how it works:
1. You think your Back is a high level elusive, capable of running on 99 or SE. Use 99 as the start point, because SE has too much disparity from 99.
--First scrimmage, run on 99
2. if you notice that your back was a REALLY elusive, try running on +35 (overcorrection) for the next scrimmage
3. If you see that he was not elusive enough, try running on 75 (overcorrect) in the third scrimmage
4. If you see that 75 was still too elusive, try running on +50. If you see that he is not running elusive enough, you know that the "direct hit" is between +75 and +50. HOWEVER, if he is running TOO elusive, you know that the "direct hit" is between 35 and 50.
That gives you some time during the regular season to do more bracketing, and you can be safe in knowing that he will not run like complete crap because you have a buffer zone that should be good enough to not screw up the game.
Also, if you already know that your player runs best between +99 and +50, like my HB, I have a smaller bracketing start point and it will take less games to get there.
Hope this helps. Maybe sticky? Can cut down on the "what should i run on" threads.
