Two days from today we have the matchup of The Semerang Red Bulls taking on The Bandar Lampung Pigskin Pirates.

Road To Super Wok IX

Both teams came into the post season as the second seed in their respective conferences. The Red Bulls finished 13-3 in the Garuda Conference and Bandar closed the season 14-2.

The Red Bulls opened up the playoffs with a comanding victory over The Lightning, breezed past The Tweetys and avenged thier regular season loss to the defending Conference Champion Louisiana Screaming Pelicans in a real nail biter that went to over time.

The Bandar Lampung Pigskin Pirates handled their business with The Bulldogs in the first round. Managed to squeak by The Pa Dong Dragons, and took the conference championship by stopping the Singapore Marauder in their tracks.

History of these two teams

This is just Semerangs third season in the Pro Leagues but they have quickly risen to the top as a top tier team in The Garuda Conference. Their first season they made the playoffs and lost to LSP. THey met LSP again the following season in the conference championship and fell again. Season 9 They took the bull by the horns and got past The Pelicans to reach their first ever Super Wok appearance.

Bandar has been a pernial playoff team since their debut to SEAPL in season 4. This is their second trip to the Super Wok in 3 seasons and after their first appearance ended in a disapointing loss to the Ho Chi Mean Hot Mamas.

Offensive breakdown

Semerang has had an absolutely unbelievable in the passing game the entire season. In the regular season Semerang had almost 3000 more passing yards than the second place passer. In the playoffs they have nearly doubled Bandar's passing total. All while having the second most rushing yards in the post season. The weakness might be the ammount of sacks given up and hurries as Semerang has allowed the most of both stats.

Bandar has been very efficient with the ball while only throwing 1 interception while throwing 8 touchdowns. Bandar has kept their Qb's jersey fairly clean by only allowing 1 sack for every 50 pass attempts.

A glance at the Defense

This is the key to Bandar's playoff success this season. A whopping 8 interceptions with 4 of those going the other way for touchdowns. Bandar has 8 forced fumbles this post season with 1 returned for touchdown. Bandar also has one of the more stingy run defenses as they have yet to allow a rushing touchdown.

Semerang's past defense has been amazing this post season only allowing 1 TD this post season. The Redbulls have also forced 8 fumbles this postseason.

In a little under 48 hours Super Wok IX will be decided wih the pride of both conferences on the line.

Should be an easy Red Bulls victory with Garuda being so obviously superior a conference.

No disrespect to BLPP, but I think the Red Bulls have a great shot to take the Gold this season. Close game, but Semarang pulls it out.
