DD and I have been discussing some ideas and we came up with this stuff for season 3 and this offseason, that we think will help address some problems and concerns from season 2:

This will all start after the playoffs for this coming offseason and season 3.

This is all up for debate, but we want to do something along these lines or something similar soon. The point is to encourage moves to be made during the offseason and early in the season, and discourage moves later on in the season as we approach the playoffs.

Chemistry changes (idea 1)

This Offseason
- Chemistry will refill by 15 per day. Do all your major moves now.

Week 1-4 (days 1-8) of regular season
- Chemistry refills by 5 per day. Players are feeling each other out, getting to know each other early in the season.

Week 5-8 (days 9-16) of regular season
- Chemistry refills by 2 per day. The roster should be pretty close to set now.

Week 9-12 (days 17-24) of regular season
- Chemistry refills by 1 per day, just like now. Now is not the time to make moves unless you really have to before the trade deadline.

Week 13-20 (days 25-40) of regular season and playoffs
- Chemistry refills by 2 per day again. Get ready for the playoffs; your players are starting to really click with the rosters set.

When you get a team assigned to you from the waiting list
- Chem is reset to 70's, you get 4 days where all moves do not affect your chemistry at all. Any teams you trade with may have their chemistry affected, but yours will not.

Chemistry changes (idea 2)

Off season moves
- All cost -1 chemistry for every move

Chemistry always refills by the following formula, except when over 70 (rounded to nearest integer):
((100 - current chemistry) / 20) + 1 per day
or maybe ((100 - current chem) / 15) + 1 per day

When chemistry is over 70
- chemistry refills by 1 per day like it does now

When you get a team assigned to you from the waiting list
- Chem is reset to 70's, you get 4 days where all moves do not affect your chemistry at all. Any teams you trade with may have their chemistry affected, but yours will not.

Cut/Trade changes

- Always unlimited cuts of CPU players.
- Maximum of one trade between any two teams within a 20 day period (so, 2 trades per season between two teams).
- Maximum 3 players on each side of a trade.
- Trade/cut deadline remains week 12

During the offseason, and up to week 4 (day 8)
- Unlimited cuts of human players

During the regular season, after day 8
- 2 human players cut per day maximum

We also have a neat idea to enhance daily training options for players to get more involved in helping build morale and chemistry, too. More on that later when it's hashed out.

I just made release/trade/sale promises to some guys on my team based on this post, so changing it now would be unfair.

Its an interseting concept. When you say chemistry will refill - is that to a certain "level" i.e. if I start the off season at 79 chemistry, is my max 79 to go into season 3?

Since this was opened, I'll post this here...

Chemistry changes go way too far...

Doesn't really matter how much chemistry you regain during the offseason and the first four weeks of the regular season, you can easily get good enough chemistry by the end of the year.

Generating 106 chemistry from day 1 through day 30 of the regular season (vs. the current 30 chemistry in that same period) is way too much of an increase. Why not just push the trading deadline back to week 8 and generate 3 chemistry per day from weeks 9 through 20? That generates 52 chemistry during the season.

You shouldn't be able to turnover your whole team and not have to spend at least one season in rebuilding mode. The game should be setup to take probably a season to a season and a half after a massive turnover to get things back to normal.

no problem with the "waiting list" changes.. i love the cut/trade changes... but i'm a bit shocked that you've basically rendered the original chemistry changes practically useless.. helping those that abused it and frustrating those that didn't..

Not everyone that has lousy chemistry has it because they abused it.

I like the idea, but just feel the numbers are way too high. There should be no penalty for maybe 1-3 trades. But being able to cut and replace your entire list devalues everything that makes this game a team building exercise.

Teams that work hard to get players to agree to play together should be rewarded with high chemistry. Teams that constantly chop and change, or allow player to fade into oblivion should not.

Anything good should not be easily attained.

I don't like this one bit. We should get a maximum of 60 per year. Now it's over 100 this hurts teams that have built on long term. I may cut players now because I can recoup the chemistry so fast.

I like it personally.

I like everything except the chemistry. Everyone will get to 100 and it will be rendered worthless, in my opinion.

I like it and my chemistry isn't terrible. Chemistry was meant to prevent gutting and collusion, this system will definitely help prevent that while not preventing teams from acquiring depth or replacing players who wish to leave their team (which with the number of teams is a very real problem).

- Maximum of one trade between any two teams within a 20 day period (so, 2 trades per season between two teams).
- Maximum 3 players on each side of a trade.

In other words, no more farm teams as only 2 trades of 3 players isn't going to work for some of the systems.

I think the chemistry changes are to much as I stated in the other thread. Teams like mine, who careful use strategy and plan, based our plan on team chemistry. We have a group of players, and work hard to keep them happy and around. And we took extra care because chemistry was added, to keep that group. Now, it seems like it was all a waste. We could have been using that time to maybe fine a big name free agent to put us over the top instead of worrying about chemistry.

I just feel that this hurts teams like mine who actual think, plan and try to run a well organized team. Maybe before the chemistry was too low, but now it is, imo too much and there should be some middle ground that can be reached. Otherwise, all our careful planning(and many teams run a good organization and am sure agree with me) was in waste in the chemistry aspect.

I understand gutted new teams are different and should be treated differently. But if an owner needs to switch this many players in a season, he is doing something wrong. Like I said, there should be some middle ground between these two extremes on the chemistry settings that can be reached.

Make your moves from your farm team during the offseason or the first 4 weeks of the season.
