I like the jersey number addition to the game, but I don't think that the numbers should have to follow the NFL's guidelines. Obviouly this isn't the NFL, so why do we need to abide by their jersey rules? I mean why not the CFL? Why not the NCAA or High School?

The CFL uses something close to the NFL, but is still different:
DBs, WRs, and TEs are allowed to wear 1-9. WRs and TEs are also allowed 70-79.
RBs cannot wear 40-49.
LBs and OL can wear 40-49.
QBs are also allowed 20-29 and 80-89.
OL cannot wear 70-79.

NCAA and high school have no number system except that the OL have to wear 50-79.

This doesn't really affect me in any way since the numbers I wanted for my guys are all availble. However, I do know a few people that would like numbers outside of these limitations. I just think that our jersey number selection shouldn't be limited to the NFL's rules.

Most teams who have their players pick a number don't use the number restrictions. A lot of people would have to pick a new number. Not a major issue, but couldn't be a huge project to get fixed either.

Bort said he put in NFL numbers because that's what people know best...

But it's not like the replays even use the numbers, so idk why this is such a big deal anyhow.

I would argue that very few people know the NFL number regulations. And it isn't a big deal, but also not a big deal to change to use any number.

Really? You think more people know the rough range of the NFL, or the CFL/NCAA?

That isn't what I said. I would say most know niether. The context of how many know more NFL or CFL/NCAA really means nothing when both are going to be very small percentages of GLB players. Basically NFL wins with 7% knowing versus 2% for CFL/NCAA. I would guess that no restrictions is what the majority use on team forums so that is what should win.

I think he is saying 1 number per player, like you can't have 2 players with #7. No one is talking about that though.

Quit making absurd statements. I'd say that more than 50% of GLB users know the rough ranges of the NFL number system. That's because 80% of GLB users are American, and probably almost all of them watch NFL games.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out, after watching 10 plays, the guy who gets the snap is usually #10-18, the guy he hands the ball off to is usually #20-40, the fat guys on his team who push the fat guys on the other team are #60-79, etc. Most GLB users are familiar with the NFL numbering system.

The guys who catch the ball are typically 80-89 range.

Chad Ochocinco makes it pretty obvious

So would teams have the option to set it to however the want? If so would this be a one time thing, similar to changing a team's name.
