So after many seasons we have seen the exploits and the benefits of the play book for the defense since the creation of the defensive play creator. Granted there are things created to battle this but simply there are holes in the O Playbook. We strongly feel that we need to refine and expand the playbook we currently offer in GLB. There are many formations where certain areas are not being hit by rushes and hell even some formations where there are rushers not even being utilized. So here is a long winded analysis and breakdown of the current playbook and an opportunity for you as a community to help us finalize this. This is a working model and we will add anything you guys suggest as we want the playbook to be as extensive as possible but quantity does not equal quality so please suggest what you have and lets make this happen.

As you can see I used numerical keys for gaps. I know each team/person had different theories about this but I made all rushing to the strong side a odd # (1,3,5,7,9) and all weak side rushes are even # (2,4,6,8). I apologize if this is a format that is not easy for you but it seems easiest for me to comprehend when I look at a play quickly.

Rules For Creating Formations

►    The formation must have at least 7 players on the line of scrimmage. The 7 players are not required to be next to each other, so they may spread out across the width of the field, but this is rare; most offenses place at least 5 players together in a continuous line.
►    The other players not on the line (usually 4 in number) may be positioned anywhere, but all must be at least 1 yard behind the 7 or more players on the line of scrimmage.
►    Of the 7 (or more) players on the line of scrimmage, all except those at either end of the line are ineligible receivers: these players may not touch or catch a forward pass (unless it is first touched by an eligible receiver, including a deflection by a defensive player), and on a forward pass play, they may not advance downfield (i.e., across the neutral zone) before the pass crosses the neutral zone. Ineligible receivers may advance freely on a running play or after a pass is thrown.

This play formation is very limited. With a total of 2 HB rushing plays and 1 FB rushing play this formation is by far the worst formation to use as an OC. The 2 HB plays that are ran basically go in between the C / RG and the RG / ROT. The only FB play is between the LG / C.

Rushing - Seems the I Formation does a pretty good job in spreading the ball around to all the gaps with the HB. With the FB the plays that only one I see lacking is the Off Tackle to the right. That seems to be the only hole in the run game with I formation that I realistically could say needed to be added.

Passing - There are only 3 current FB passing plays. All of which go to the left. When you analyze all the passing plays in I formation together this is a consistency that needs to be changed. FB needs to have routes that can go to the strong side of the field. That is the biggest change for FB that I can see is needed for I Formation. Screens also in all of the formations are limited to the right side only. This is another addition I would add in. Make screens able to be ran to the left.

FB Rushing - All gaps are pretty much being hit except for any sort of pitch/sweep right. This is a weakness in this formation so that needs to be added.

HB Rushing - Seems alright with play selection, all areas are being utilized.

Passing - Same as the I formation, we need to have a screen to the left. Another issue with FB passing routes is that all FB targeted plays all go to the strong side. For that matter all passing the the FB is on the strong side. This creates an issue with matchups as they will always know what side the FB is on for passing situations. In reality it just seems we don't have enough passing plays as it is. We have 3 for FB, 1 for HB, 2 for TE and 3 for WR. So for a total of 9 passing plays out of Strong I is a major issue in my book. We need to expand greatly in this area.

This is one of the more pathetic formations that we have at the moment that needs a huge addition. There are so many easy ways to know what to do on D against this formation it makes it pointless to run it.

There are no FB running plays!!! WTF is this about! MAJOR FIX IMO!

HB Plays only true lack of plays in this area is that we can add an Off Tackle play here. There is nothing hitting the outside edge of the line on the strong side.

QB Plays are obviously not uber important but there are no QB rushing plays here... should be added eventually.

Passing in this formation is a joke as well. We have 1 FB play, 1 HB play, 3 TE plays and 3 WR plays... a total of 8 plays? So we need some major additions here to expand the playbook. Screen right and left plus many more.

FB rushing is lacking in this formation tremendously. All their rushing goes to the weak side.

HB rushing is missing a Slam to the strong side but other than that seems ok.

QB rushing again not important but should be added here too.

Passing there is only one FB passing target route and so should expand there. All HB routes seem to go to the weak side only. Should probably add some to go to the strong side as well. Need a Weak side screen too.

Rushing seems ok here as HB hits all the gaps while QB rushing is only outside rushing. We should add a Dive or Delay to this formation for QB as well.

Passing routes are pretty spread out but one thing I did notice is that the HB routes are mainly going to the strong side, we might want to add if anything HB routes to the weak side. Screen is only one sided as well...

Rushing is fine here.

Passing I would like to see more as I am a fan of spread offenses at times. The majority of the plays are all on the edges and clutters the hashes with players while the middle of the field stays open for the most part. Maybe we can add more plays but really we have other issues more important imo.
