Texan's Week 3 Picks
Current Record: 29-3
Naga
SCSK (2-0) v Saigon (2-0)
Two new Pro teams are both looking like veterans at this point in the GoTW for Naga. With all of their talking, Saigon would feel "Better of Dead" if they lost, while SCSK's Breakfast Club of planners want to do just that. Saigon looked very impressive against Buffalo and I am more impressed with their talent the more I watch them. I think SCSK is a playoff team, but a notch below. Whitesun ftw. Saigon 42, SCSK 20.
NBA Jam (2-0) v Bacolod Skullcrushers (1-1)
NBA beat up the TF, even the "Heathers" (aka Laker Dancers) got involved. Bacolod looked very competitive against a fine Shadow Lake team, but fell short. Owner dano6482 was quoted as saying I hope our fans "Stand by Me". I think NBA is probably a bit above Bacolod's last opponent, which spells doom for the Skullscrushers. NBA 35, Bacolod 14.
Snakeheads (2-0) v Bali (0-2)
SLS is looking pretty good since riding their "Airplane!" to Pro and now look to feel even better versus a Bali team that is tiring of Wargames. Bali is certainly putting up a fight and they will do so here as well, but like last game I like that SLS D. Snakeheads 27 Bali 10.
Monks (2-0) v HKH (1-1)
HKH feels a bit better after picking up their first Pro win in a long time and are no longer singing "The Blues Brothers". The Monks meanwhile plan to put HKH to work in their Caddyshack of debauchery after racing to a 2-0 start where they haven't been challenged much. This will be the Monks toughest game to date but I still think they have to much game to get hustled. Monks 20, HKH 17.
Tibet (1-1) v PPW (0-2)
Tibet is planning to humiliate PPW by making them look Pretty In Pink, whereas PPW thinks the Psychonaughts are really just a bunch of Goonies. Tibet 160, PPW 3.
Mutant Smurfs (1-1) v CMM (0-2)
The smurfy ones got their Revenge of the Nerds against the Rumrunners and picked up their first win, while CMM is working "9 to 5" but is still 0-2. Despite CMM being down the smurfs are still taking a step up in competition this time out and will get all they can handle, or perhaps even more. Smurfs 23, CMM 20.
Mekong (1-1) v PDP (0-2)
Playoff rivals meet again, but this time not on the grand stage. The Penguins are feeling like "Lost Boys" after an uncharacteristically slow start, while Mekong is hoping not to "Short Circuit" their season. Both teams are rebuilding and have question marks, but which will be answered? I guess I'll go with my own team... Portland 20, Mekong 17.
St John Rumrunners (0-2) v Thai Fighters (0-2)
One of these teams will get their first win barring the dreaded GLB tie. Neither team has had much going on as of yet. The Rumrunners are calling their "Uncle Buck" for help while Thai is hoping to go "Back to the Future" of their hot run late last season. I am more of a sci-fi fan tbh. Thai 30, St John 14.
Garuda
Garudas (2-0) v Lucid (1-1)
Krungthep is finding Garuda much to their liking so far while Lucid is a bit undecided so far this season. Lucid is hoping to find a "Lethal Weapon" in their offense but they'll find the Garudas harder to kill than "Highlander". I really think Krungthep just has too much, but we'll say that a lot this season. Garudas 45, Lucid 16.
Bangalore (2-0) v Singapore (0-2)
Bangalore is really starting to pick up some steam while Singapore is losing theirs. The Canes are hoping to put some Gremlins in the works, but look for Bangalore to be The Road Warrior here. Bangalore 42, Singapore 13.
Tet Offense (2-0) v Dharma (CPU)
Um, ya. Go ahead and tape delay this one. Tet feels like they are Top Gun and Dharma is just "Running Scared". Tet 255, Dharma 0.
Lampang (2-0) v Ottawa (1-1)
Lampang's QB is running over the competition so far but they'll get tested by an Ottawa who was just introduced to the true meaning of Pro. Lampang has "A View to a Kill" to get that 3-0 record while Ottawa hopes to act as a Poltergeist in their nightmares on the field. Ottawa 27, Lampang 20.
LSP (2-0) v MMJ (0-2)
LSP gets a break in their schedule are two competitive games to start. MMJ would love to have their own Christmas Story in the form of a win but LSP is planning on Dirty Dancing all over the Junta's field. LSP 150, MMJ 3.
RSR (1-1) v BKK (1-1)
My rumors of BKK's demise were greatly exaggerated as they hope to make the Steel Rain feel more like "Purple Rain". RSR meanwhile just plans to be "Rain Man" to BKK's Vegas. I think this will be one of the more entertaining games of the week. RSR 21, BKK 20.
Sweatshop (1-1) v Buffalo (1-1)
This should be good. GoTW quality in Garuda. The sweatshop is hoping that their "Voyage Home" will propel them to victory whereas Buffalo more like their "Nightmare on Elm Street". I think this is a back and forth affair that is tough to call, so I'll flip a coin. Buffalo 30, Sweatshop 27.
Sharks (1-1) v Gulls (0-2)
The Gulls may be winless but that haven't looked bad doing it, while the Sharks have one win but haven't looked particularly impressive to get there. The Sharks are planning to go Karate Kid in this one but the Gulls are hoping their Empire Strikes Back for a win. I think this is a relatively even matchup, but hey, I'm on cold medicine right now. Gulls 16, Sharks 13.
Current Record: 29-3
