HB Draw (Shotgun) is terribad. Why? Rushing lanes don't open up from the pass rush, and, more importantly, defenders react almost instantly when the ball is handed off. QB draw and scrambles also suffer for p much the same reason. Basically, pass blocking/rush don't work correctly, and defensive run/pass read checks are too easy. As a result, a big part of offense is missing from GLB.

I would have posted this in Suggestions, but frankly I don't have a specific suggestion for how to fix it. I know that vision-related things and blocking interactions are difficult. I just know a bad sim interaction when I see it.

P.S. Illustration just how bad HB Draw is, for any skeptics. Scouting the top 8 WL teams in each conference for their use of it through 4 weeks of WL action:
MPHD: 1 attempt, -4 yds
Lincoln, ESL, Dakar, Queen City, Korb, Boston, Haliblack, Chocolate, Valhalla, MoD, Providence, Bonn, So Cal, HHW, Warsaw: 0 attempts
Teams looking for any edge, yet no one uses it because it is that bad.

You pretty much have to dominate in the trenches for it to work with any consistency, or break tackles like crazy, and if you can do those things, you don't have need for draws in the first place.)

Yea, HB draw is completely pointless unless you're playing a team you are likely to completely demolish anyways (or somehow get lucky with blocking).

Bort needs to specifically flag draw plays as a draw play in the code, and force defenses to react accordingly.

If it's 1st/2nd down, or short yardage, keep it pretty much how it is.

If it's long yardage or 3rd/4th down, make them lean very heavily towards reading pass first, and force the guys blitzing to really blitz, which should open up some lanes.

Yeah. If the QB has no choice but to scramble, then he might actually run with a good angle and timing and get some yards.
But if he is set to Scramble Often and does go through his reads, he's unlikely to take off and run unless he ends up with all day to throw and still nobody open, which usually happens against a three-man rush on like 3rd & 15 or 4th & 10, in which case he runs straight ahead for about 8 yards.

This is a scramble. Forcing a run from a pass play is not a scramble.

EDIT:Using the custom checkdown in a pass play that HB stay to block and use him as a target results in a QB run.
