I echo what potts said.
If a new player joins creates one player.
creates his 1 player boosts him one time at the end of the year (or 3 if he's a OT)
then boosts when he gets rewards points he can manage this player but when that player is too old to retire, he'll only have the 70% of 300 or 200 + 100 or 200 or... 310 FPs.
Now this player has to wait till more rewards to boost him once if he creates a 200 pt player. Eventually this will go down to 0 and the player will either be forced to quit or buy FP's.
I can see a major drawback to the new RP system, at least the way I'm reading it...
Since GLB is an MMORPG, it stands to reaosn that the game as a whole benefits from having a large player base.
I am sure that right now there are a lot of highly active and motivated Agents who do not purchase flex, and maintain their ability to play GLB by recycling the yearly FP bonus.
Under the new system, if non-refundable RP replace the seasonal FP awards, then eventually these free players will run out of FP. Since they have existing accounts, they do not have the ability to receive the 400 start up FP/RP to continue playing.
Result: GLB may not lose MONEY in the short run, but they DO lose a decent % of their player base, thus adversely effecting the overall gaming experience...and THIS may well translate into a drop in revenue.
Since an MMORPG tends to thrive on a large community, and since the free players make up a decent % of that community, it would be reasonable NOT to force those folks to pony up cash they may not have, nor to drive them out of the game altogether.
Sure, I recognize the need to differentiate between a Free and a Paid account in some way. And I also see that the old system can allow the accumulation of "free" FP to the point that here is essentially no difference between free or paid, but there MUST be some way to do this without potentially losing a good portion of the community...
What I suggest is this:
1) Allow the option of receiving a new 300 RP allotment in the 1st season AFTER RP amounts fall below 100 for any account that is un-paid (no FP), OR for any account with less than 100 FP (essentially "un-usable" FP).
to receive this 300 RP "replenishment", an account must have NO un-retired players, and must have no more than 100 FP/RP combined.
This allows existing free players who have depleted their old FP thru multiple refunds to still have the necessary points to start new player when their last FP's are gone. It also prevents
2) Set a maximum amount on the NUMBER of RP an account may keep un-used at any one time.
This would work much like Training Points, and would prevent people from purchasing an account, and "sitting" on it un-used until RP accumulate to a level where CEQ and boosts are obtainable immediately (just like a paid account).
If unlimited RP accumulation is possible, then it is really only a matter of TIME, and an agent's patience, that seperates a Free from a paid account, and without differentiation between free/paid accounts, you have a BIG dis-incentive to pay...right?
Besides...If the idea of free FP/RP is to get people in the door and trying GLB for the purpose of growing the community, you also want to ensure the freebies are USED to create players. More active players = more teams = more leagues, = a better game overall, right? But the RP/FP must be in USE!
