Currently, almost every league I play in has one strong conference and one weak one. This hinders competition by discouraging good teams who have to fight through each other in the tough conference, while worse teams have an easy road to the playoffs and the league championship.

Suggestion: After teams are sorted into league, run a second script that uses EFL, average SP, and number of players on roster to sort teams into conferences. While EFF lvl and AVG SP are not a perfect indicator of success, it is highly correlated.

I'll take it one step further. Do another sorting of teams in each age bracket toward the end of the offseason, when recruiting is done for the most part. There always seems to be a few sub-par teams in an elite league that don't have a chance there, and some very good teams in league #7 or 8 or something like that should be in a higher league. Sorting teams on day 41 can't account for all the signings that happen after that.

I am ok with that. The bottom line is that GLB is very sloppy about sorting teams. I am not questioning the general hierarchy or promotion and demotion system. But after that they do a poor jobs of getting conferences balanced and overal balancing of competition within leagues and among leagues in the same age bracket. And why? It wouldn't be that hard to do and they already have data measurements that could help in terms of Average SP and EFL. Why not use those? They are a much better measure of team strength than won/loss records.

This suggestion could kill rivalries...I'd rather keep them than sort for more even conferences.

Way overstated. Most of the rivalries are kept going by Friendly Challenges anyway.

This imo. I'm on a few teams that like to keep rivalries going with friendlies every season. I'd rather see more balanced conferences. +1

rivalries was a dumb idea that implemented. like others have stated, if i have a true rivalry, we'd keep it going via scrims. do we really want to play a team that we beat by 100 the previous season? i know i dont.

+infinity to this idea. Should have been done a long time ago.

Agents have abandoned their teams and other teams have filled their rosters. With all those changes, team movement should be re-run. It only makes common sense.

Maybe the re-run will place some teams where they actually belong for a change.

Wow. That makes so much sense it'll never happen.

# of players on the team should also be counted. But sorting the leagues one time before the schedules are set would be nice.

Yes, I agree. And the sorting algorithm could modify the Average SP and EFL measure by the number of players.
