Forum > Suggestions > Formations: DC Specific Overrides

I see everywhere how people believe the Depth Chart needs to be improved.
Why do we constantly overlook the most needed upgrade: The O-Line?
O-Coordinators have to rely on the current DC, when game-planning. The ability to pre-set offensive positions for a specific formation must be available to more than just players that touch the ball.
After all, this option is available to anyone using their AI effectively.
I'll bet that Casual Pro coaches would appreciate this too.

Example:

Running a Power Toss out of the Weak-I formation requires the ROG to pull to the outside.
I have to do one of the following:
1) Suck it up, and take my chances.
2) Assign a Speed/Agility based Guards to the position throughout the game.
3) Eliminate the play from the team's AI & Basic Playbook.
This is but just one example.

On the Defensive side of the ball, we have specific DC overrides by position.

Will this unfairly tip the balance of game flow to the Offense? Definitely not.
It will create situations where D-Coordinators will have to be a little more creative with the resources that GLB has provided us with.

Everyone says that they want GLB to mimic the NFL.
How 'bout it?

This would really come in handy for screens too.
This game's sooo rigged toward the Defense, this may never happen.

rigged for the defense? get real... not even college blowouts approach the kind of scoring that goes on in GLB... how many 7-3 games have you ever seen in GLB?

Even at WL level scoring is out of hand--although closer to real life.

There might be more scoring but offensively you are pretty limited. +1 to the OP.

We should be able to play specific players on specific plays at specific positions.

Is this specific enough?

^This.

However, yes the game is rigged for the defense. Lower completion percentages, yards per pass attempt, yards per rush attempt than in real life. Blowout scoring occurs because mismatches much more extreme than in real life occur; and even when they don't, the morale system turns moderate mismatches into something more extreme.

Also, more scoring occurs because returns (KO, punt, interception) go for TD's much more often than in real life, and 3rd down conversions aren't quite as hard. And if you look at WL scores, they could fit right in with NCAA football scores (not quite NFL as there's not as much parity as in the NFL-- note I'm not complaining about this, just explaining why they look like NCAA rather than NFL scores).

Still -1 to the OP's suggestion because, while offenses need help, it should be done in a way that doesn't make defensive AI take even much longer than it does.

Yes, it is. If NFL Def Coords put as little thought, or knowledge into their planning, as many on here do, you would see blowouts like this.
Scoring blowouts are on a majority are due to one team grossly out classing the other, along with poor player assignment on STs.
When teams are somewhat evenly matched, the score is very tight.

The current GLB set-up, although more intricate than it was almost 4 years ago; is far from being realistic. DC work could increase, as the need to use defensive talents effectively would increase.
The ability to build a sledgehammer defense would still be there. The ablity to point it like an ICBM, would be reduced.

If they get this, then defense should also get custom slots... NGTH
