The Commission is going to be testing a World Cup style tournament in a few leagues this season with the intent (if it is successful) of rolling it out widespread next season. I thought I would give it a shot here in National Minor Casual for the hell of it. For those of you who don't know, the World Cup starts with Group Stage. Teams are placed into groups of 4 and play a round robin. So Team A will play Team B, C, and D. Team B will play Team A, C, and D, ect. Every team is guaranteed those 3 games. After that, the top 2 teams from every group will advance to the knockout stage. Group winners will face group runner-ups and it proceeds like a normal single elimination tournament from there. Hopefully, this eliminates some of the "I got a terrible draw" that you hear from time to time.
Please PM me or post here if you want to participate in the Tournament and I will get a PF group started. Include in the PM or post include any additional members of your team (OC, DC, scouts, ect) that need access to the forum. I am hoping to get 16+ teams to do this, so LU teams don't feel as though you're wasting flex. This should be a fun tournament with the guaranteed 3 games. Plus, we need a couple non-boosters to participate to get to 16. I will be sending some people PMs about this to make sure we get to 16 teams in the next couple of days. I want to start the first round roughly Day 0 with games every 2-4 days depending mostly on the LU guys (especially the ones who have been talking shit) with their schedules.
