I'm Curious. I was taught in school that it was 99. Apparently I am incorrect. Can someone please help out?

you forget that you are looking at the truncated full numbers. 81 could be anywhere from 81.0 to 81.99 afaik. so you could hve been adding 81.99 to 18.99. thats why you aim for 98 and not 99.

You've played this game long enough to know that you shouldn't assume it will actually end at 99.

So with ZERO breakthroughs how is it my identical players are all coming up with different end training %'s? Seems like there are break throughs although mini still in the game. I have players between 98% trained and rolled over.

They add 2.5% randomness to training gain, so you better not aim for 99%.

Why yes I can.

The displayed training values are more-or-less accurate. However, when actually training, a randomness factor coded in by Bort will add up to 5% (of the training percentage) per train. This random factor will only increase the percentage you get when you train, it will never decrease it. For more information on the training randomness factor, see this Bort post:
