We've had 2 games where on goal to go plays on the opponants 3.5 yard line it ran this play.

We don't have this play in our play selection or AI. And when I put the info into the test AI, this play does NOT come up.

Whats up with this?

check your AI again -- the common thing I see in those plays is ...

three point five yards to go

make sure you don't have a gap in your ai

I've checked the AI numerous times. Its NOT the AI, and there is no gap in my yardage.

I put in the exact circumstances for the plays, and it comes up with my normal outputs. NONE of which calls for a "HB Sting" with our SS as the HB, and our HB as the FB!

Tactics calendar?

Check the names of the AI"s. If you use the same name in a personal AI and the team AI it is easy to select the incorrect one.

You can set me as GM and I'll take a look if you like.

Just to note- The reason why (not that it's good that it does it, just that this is why) your FS was the HB and the HB was the FB is due to the order positions are filled.

In that replay, with it being a goalline, the TE positions are apparently filled first.
Since you only have 2 TE's on the team, it pulled the FB for the third TE spot.
Now when it went to fill the FB spot you have no players left in FB (he's in a TE spot) it grabbed a HB.
Then when it filled the HB (again, the HB in depth was already used in FB) it grabbed what it evaluates to be the best available player, which was a FS. Guessing he's faster than the other HB? Or some combination of attributes

As for why it called the play, probably what fish said. Also many times people have said there is no gap in the AI, and then when its checked there is a gap in the AI. So don't rule that out too quick, get another pair of eyes on it to make sure.

very easy to mess up one of the settings and get a false hit.

It's very likely this. If you plan on using the goalline formation, and only have 2 TEs, just list a backup o-linemen or someone as the third TE, so it doesn't pull your FB into TE, and HB into FB, etc. etc. etc.

Yeah, I can understand that part. Just don't understand why its even calling that play. I don't have anything in the tactics calander, and like I said, I can test run the AI and it never calls for that play.

In a tournament game the other day it did it again, this time it switched my rushing FB and blocking FB and had the blocking FB running the ball.

I know what it is, It's the "Phantom Calls" I keep telling everyone about and no one believes me. It does it when: On a .5 Yard line or .5 yds. to go. It's reverting back to your Basic AI Settings. Nothing you can do but make sure your FS isn't back ther in the Backfield.

This happens only when you have a hole in your AI.

I dont think that's what we have here, but could be.

No it doesn't only happen when there is a hole in the AI.

It's the reason I do no coordinating anymore.

I had old bug threads and allowed GM access. The bugs mod saw there was no hole and phantom calls happen.

GLB refuses to address it, you might as well move on. Consider it a RNG that screws over certain teams.

How do you have your AI set up? If you have a GL call for 3 and for 5 and 10 yds you should have them set up like this:

Opponent's 3 to Opponent's Goal - Play
Opponent's 5 to Opponent's Goal - Play
Opponent's 10 to Opponent's Goal - Play
etc.

Just like you should set up your down and distance like this:

Down 3 to 3 Yds to go: 15-100
Down 3 to 3 Yds to go: 10-100
Down 3 to 3 Yds to go: 8-100
Down 3 to 3 Yds to go: 5-100
Down 3 to 3 Yds to go: 3-100
Down 3 to 3 Yds to go: 0-100

etc.

For field position, I would do it in the order I have above (put the yard and then Opponent's Goaline second). I encountered a weird bug where if I had the yardage reversed (Opponent's Goalline to Opponent's 3) it would not let me adjust the input. It would revert back to the original when I hit update no matter how many times I did it. I swapped them and it worked normally.
You could always not post.
