Can someone explain to me how the QB would decide NOT to throw this pass??? HB is WIDE OPEN and the progression even goes there and stares at it for a few ticks?!?!?

It isn't third down so the fact he is short of the marker doesn't factor in at all. 9 Minutes left in the 2nd quarter.

How is this not broken?

I read the link, as if, Bort admits that it is not working as intended.

Considering the QB moved to the WR (who also was pretty wide open and declared himself as such), maybe the WR was the better target. Which one has the 69 green receiving bar and which one has the 81 gold receiving bar?
Don't argue with idiots.
First, they bring you down to their level.
Then they win with their experience.

I can explain why it happened, it's what CDZYO said, basically.
Multiple targets competing for attention and the WR represented a better completion (Higher catch score and deeper downfield plus "I'm Open" flag.) even though the HB had more potential for YAC and would be most people's preferred target.

However this is an element of the sim that Bort has already designated for improvement... so I'll make sure he sees this example when reviewing the decision making.

also the preference to pass towards open players or get a bigger completion slider thing would affect it to right?

add this one too, not sure how the TE would have a better chance, but thats just silly

Yeah that's bad too.

Could speculate that maybe the WR was so far away the pass was harder to complete to him than the TE, but thats kinda just making excuses for a bad decision.

Even if the amount of time spent on his first progression stays the same, allow him to decide a man is open more easily.

(this is the QB's build by the way so I don't think vision is an issue: http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd314/tpaterniti/Temp2-2.jpg )

Maybe there is something telling the QB that a deeper pass is inherently riskier. It's not. Get rid of this please.

You can add this one to the list as well:

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=2014533&pbp_id=8432867

If the receiving bar is a factor in determining the preferred target, then clearly the deeper target, in this case, would have been the preferred target.

Even so, there's something else that troubles me about this particular play. It's 3rd & 8 to go, and the first (wide) open target is at or beyond the 1st down marker, with room to run, and in the QB's sights. The QB was set at -90 Open Man. Seems to me that would have been the ideal time to throw the ball to that receiver, rather than waiting until he runs into coverage.

I hope this example is useful, and thanks for your efforts Mike.
