Screw that. If anything we need more midseason patches/fixes. Having d-linemen completely useless for an entire season was a bigger problem than teams having to adjust. I will.say that far more testing should be going on during the offseason, for a big like the d-line big to go undetected for as long as it did is a pretty telling condemnation that the amount of testing going on during the offseason is woefully inadequate.

I'd rather have a three week offseason than a bugged sim, give users a bunch of free scrims in the offseason, load the new Sim shortly after team movements and let the user base find the most pernicious of the bugs and you'll.have fewer changes at midseason.

Nothing should be done mid-season.....period. However, I do agree with a longer off Season, etc. to work any bugs out before going live sort of speak. As you stated, if this is done than no changes should be needed mid-season that any DC or OC would need to change their AI for. The so-called bug was a major change which should NEVER be done mid-season & the fact that they tried to say it wasn't because it was a bug fix is a joke in & of itself. That was just plain ignorant on their part & not a very intelligent business move!

If you look at d-line tackles before and after the fix you'll notice a pattern that belies your argument. Absolutely needed to be fixed, sim is actually much better since. Not good mind you, but much better than the complete joke it was before it was fixed.

Sorry, but I strongly disagree with you as this patch went to far the other way & should never of been done mid-season. Nothing that changes the game drastically should be done mid-season.......period. Take the time to get everything correct in preseason & I could care less if it takes a month to do. The S28 end product was crap either way you cut it!

They tried letting the chips fall where they may once in season 8 instead of doing the right thing and applying the midseason fix. The result was less than stellar. I'd rather have to adjust to the new sim after a bug fix than see the entire o-line/d-line dynamic be ruined for an entire season. With quick scrimmages you can figure out how the mid season adjustments are going to affect you pretty quickly. I'd love to see GLB give some free scrims when they make those midseason changes but I definitely don't want to see a terrible sim left alone because it might inconvenience a few users.

It should not be a goal, nor should it ever be a goal, to have GLB stats inline with NFL stats.

Bug fix only hurt shitty teams relying on 5ypc from their shitty exploit dive/slams.
I provide an offense that spreads the legs of the defense and delivers the coconuts in a variety of ways.

You're probably right, but I still think that one can filter out the straight bitching, and actually pay attention too (and encourage) the well thought out discussions and critiques. A lot of older posters have switched from well reasoned posts to plain bitching and trolling, and I'm not sure if that's because they just got tired of their well written posts being ignored (which largely was the case) or because they sold their accounts and it is a different person now.

You and yendorii both make solid points. I realize that not all those who are vocal are malcontents and that there are plenty of would-be malcontents that we haven't heard from yet. I've generally not spent much time on the public forums, not even lurking, until the past couple of weeks, so I don't have much of a context for the ebb and flow of this forum. I would interpret my use of the term whining very loosely!

I think a well-planned survey would be very helpful to the admins in getting a better understanding of who their customers are, their desires and expectations, as well as what they are truly willing to endure in terms of getting this game moving in the right direction again.

I'm a case in point - I've played this game since season 2, spent a ton of money, but rarely posted outside of a private or team forum. I had several seasons as a very happy and engaged user and they never would have known it since I didn't say anything publicly about how I felt until I was really pissed off earlier this season.

Being able to sift and filter some user responses to various questions would help them to better interact with us all and help them to better plan out both their direction for the sim and the process of getting it there and how to communicate that to us. Not only that, it could calm some of the irritated user base by demonstrating not only concern for what they think but also provide the real potential for them to have their voices heard in a way that would be more meaningful than counter-productive (if funny), quickly-locked threads making fun of Bort.
Good health is simply a slower rate of death.
