I kind of split up my STOP O linemen builds to resemble a strong blocking FB. I aim for about 100 speed with 135ish strength. 80+ blocking and agility along with 70 to 80 tackling if you can pull it off. Their low speed won't make them big tacklers on kickoffs or punts but they should be able to make tackles when close.

I doubt I am the norm on this but that is how I approach it.

i'm surprised how many think speed is still so important for blockers after the blocking nerf a few seasons ago. all a fast blocker does at many slots is to let the blocked player break loose earlier.

I've found that about the only place you really need FAST blockers is on the BW for kickoffs. They've gotta stay out in front of the KR.

That is very interesting. Not alot of CCs but still.

IN3 should not get many CC's tbh. Just tackles (will admit, he didn't have a stellar season29 with tackles either)

For the outside and line blockers, are typical O lineman speeds good enough then? Seems alot of folks are using OTs for this work, non ST ones that are used in regular play. So is a speed 70 really all I need?

Did you not look at the build we were critiquing? Speed might not be as important as prior to the YMX inspired Season 27 nerf, but 70 speed certainly isn't enough. Even if he dropped all EQ into speed, that'd only be 125 speed for his converted OL.

Keep in mind I am thinking about guys who would be taking slots at OU1 OU2 or FW1 FW2 FW3...guys who would be O line men anyway. Just thinking I could have a couple slots dedicated to those positions to reduce energy hits on regular down players. Not looking to turn an old OT into an all around both ways STOP player. Just wondering if, while I am retooling them, if there were stats I could trade for something more ST friendly, or if the OT build is best as is for those positions.

Well regardless you'll want more speed. But if you're not making the OT into a STOP for the blocking wedge, you certainly don't need as much.

my first stop I ever made, which is at lvl 65 right now, I decided to go OT and make him a gunner. Yeah...now I see that you can't possibly get MT% or FF%, awesome. I'll retire him, whoops....

Okay thanks.

Any thoughts as to how much?

How much strength do I need to keep on him might be the better question.
