These guides are for use with the ¤ Rebel Alliance ¤ Dot Starter Guide http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=5009067

You'll get specifics on what height and or weight to start with, and what attribute you want to shoot up to the second cap. Then the guide will lay out a rough plan for what to do with your first season, and then some vague ideas on how the rest of the build should go.

Hard Hitting LB

Bonus SA: Break Thru, Strong Base

Height: Optional Weight: Max for +2 Strength

Big 3: Strength, Agility, Speed

Starting Build: 25 (27) Strength, 16 Agility

Because you start out with 27 in Strength, you'll only need to buy +10% enhancement to start with, but you'll want to pick up the 20% ASAP. By Day 48 you'll be able to buy 1 SP and cap Strength at 49. Keep pounding Strength, and before Day 0 you'll be able to 2-cap Strength at 61.50. Then on Day 2, you'll be able to buy Strength Multi-training, and start training Agility on the swing attribute. Because you skimped on your Strength enhancement, you can also buy the Blocking enhancement at +20% at the same time.

Day 9/10: You'll 3-cap Strength. Maintain double Training.

Day 17/18: You'll 4-cap Strength at 73.50. Congratz Strength is done Maintain double Training.

Day 25/26: You cap Agility at 49 even. Maintain double Training.

Hang on to your Boosts, no matter what your playoff chances are.

Around Day 44, depending on when your training rolls over, you be able to 2-cap Agility before boosting. Then you can boost and hold onto those SPs. Finally, you can set up your 4-way training. Strength/Speed/Agility with Vision on the swing, but Max out your pre-season training before 3-capping Agility on Day 0. Pick up the 30% enhancement for Speed, and the 10% enhancement for Vision.

Now as you may have guessed by now, this build really isn't for "hard hitting". What you've essentially done is started yourself a very good DT trapped in a LBs body. This approach is probably the best thing you can do with a linebacker. What you're doing is creating a player to specifically counter-act the blocking TE (who is a RT trapped in a TEs body). You'll want to split your EQ between Speed and Strength so that your LB has some range, but the bonuses will be similar to the DT. Break Block %, Make Tackle %, and some extras of your choice. Because of the split, the build works best as 4 AEQ so Light training should start around age 160.

It's pretty light on SAs because there's not a whole lot of good options for the LBs. In this case, with 35 I'd do
Top SA Tree: | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Bottom SA Tree: | 1 | 2 | 4 | 0 | 0 |
Additional SA Tree: | 4 | 8 | Strong Base | Break Thru/Zone Focus

AEQ would be 15% Break Blocks, 15% Make Tackle, +6 Shed Blocks, +6 Strong Base. CEQ would get 21% Break Blocks.

This LB could be used as a supplemental Pass Rusher, which works well from the Quarter package which gives extra coverage at the cost of a d-lineman--the LB makes up that difference. If Zone Focus is used, then he can drop out into the flat to help break up screen plays. Break Thru would give a little more run stopping power, on top of what the LB already brings.

Blitzing LB

Bonus SA: Disguise Blitz, 1st Step

Height: Minimum for +2 Agility Weight: Optional

Big 3: Agility, Speed, Tackling

Starting Build: 25 (27) Agility, 18 Speed

Because you start out with 27 in Agility, you'll only need to buy +10% enhancement to start with. By Day 48 you'll be able to buy 1 SP and cap Agility at 49. Keep pounding Agility, but on Day -4, IF you went heavy for weight you can buy Agility Multi-training, and start training Speed on the swing attribute. Because you skimped on your Agility enhancement, you can also buy the Speed enhancement at +20% at the same time. Day 0 you'll be able to 2-cap Agility at 61.50.Then on Day 2 go ahead and pick up the +20% enhancement for Agility. As long as you have both growing with 20% on each by Day -2, you'll be ok.

Day 9/10: You'll 3-cap Agility. Congratz you're done with it Maintain double Training.

Day 19/20: You'll cap Speed. Maintain 2-way Training.

Day 31/32: You 2-cap Speed at 61 even. Now you can start your 4-way multi-training. Unlock Speed and Tackling, and then enhance Tackling 20%, and get the Jumping enhancement at 10%--that'll be your first swing.

Hang onto your boosts no matter what your playoff chances are.

With any luck at all, around day 45 or so, you'll be able to boost once and 3-cap Speed at 68 even, then boost up and hold the SPs.

Day 3/4: You can 4-cap Speed at 73.50.

Day 10: You Hit L22, boost once and 5-cap Speed, then boost twice. Very soon depending on what you did for weight, you'll 6-Cap Speed and be done. Depending on your starting weight, and training regimen, you could 5-cap speed and then boost up to 6-cap it. Or it might take another level, but either way once you 6-cap Speed you're done with it.

Now, the reason you want to work on Tackling and Jumping next is because you want the maximum tackling radius possible. After that will be Vision, to make sure you get a good jump off the LoS at the snap. Then Strength will be after that. This Build requires both Disguise Blitz and 1st Step. Both must fire in order for you to even have a shot at the QB. Breaking blocks isn't really all that important, because if you get blocked it'll be too late to do anything after that.

Just fair warning, every season, GLB adjusts the blocking code to "fix bad blitzes"--meaning blitzes that actually work. LBs will never get constant or reliable pressure on the QB. However, what happens is the o-line must adjust and allow for him, which makes life easier for the d-line, and the net result is more pressure on the QB even if it isn't directly by the LB himself. The build works as 3 or 4 AEQ as long as you plan your BTs and SPs accordingly. This time I went for 4.

hopefully, you'll end up with something like this (or better)

30 SPs is exactly enough to 10 in Disguise Blitz, which was pretty lucky.

AEQ would be the standard, 15% Break Blocks, 15% Make Tackle and then do 2 pieces of 1st Step.

Coverage LB

** NOTE: It's been widely observed that LBs have been somehow nerfed to make them not cover especially well. This isn't conjecture anymore. http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=5029135&page=4#46752457
LBs coding was specifically tailored to allow for the reception numbers that GLB was looking for. LBs cannot stick as tightly to their man as DBs can and then on top of that, their chances to get a deflection have been altered to allow X amount of receptions. As such, I wouldn't recommend making a Coverage LB to do man coverage.

Bonus SA: Zone Focus

Height: Maximum for +2 Vision Weight: Optional

Big 3: Vision, Speed, Agility

Starting Build: 25 (27) Vision, 16 Speed

Because you start out with 27 in Vision, you'll only need to buy +10% enhancement to start with. By Day 48 you'll be able to buy 1 SP and cap Vision at 49. Keep pounding Vision, but on Day -4, IF you went heavy for weight you can buy Vision Multi-training, and start training Speed on the swing attribute. Day 19/20: You'll cap Speed. Maintain 2-way Training.

Day 31/32: You 2-cap Speed at 61 even. Now you can start your 4-way multi-training. Unlock Speed and Agility, and then enhance Agility 20%, and get the Jumping enhancement at 10%--that'll be your first swing.

This is a build where boosting early won't be especially damaging. You could very easily boost once to get your L16 EQ.

After day 40, however you play it, 3-cap Speed and hold onto whatever is left over. It'll do this build some good to pick up a 30% enhancement in something--probably Agility, but Jumping could also work, maybe both depending on what you're going for. For this build I'll do Jumping only with the 30%. Whatever you choose, now is the time to pick it up.

Day 3/4: 4-cap Speed. Buy a SP or 2 if you have to.

Day 10: You hit L22. You should be able to 5-cap Speed without boosting, and then 6-cap it it and be done.

In this build you'll probably want a lot of extra BTs, so dig into Light training a little early, and squeeze out as much as you can. You'll want to buy Super Vision as another bonus SA, and the build would benefit from Closing Speed, if you can afford a 3rd bonus SA.

and the result was...

So I missed on my BT goal, so the other approach is to make it up with EQ. So I'll spend the 62 SPs something like

Additional SA Tree: | 10 | 10 | Zone Focus | Super Vision

Then AEQ is 15% Deflect, 15% Avoid Fake, and then 2 pieces of Closing Speed. CEQ would be for 21% Deflect.

This is a fairly specific tool for a DC to use. When scouting a team, this LB is used to add extra help to a problem area. Like if a team likes to run WR screens a lot, or if there's some kind of crossing route that a team leans on, then this LB just sits down in that zone and breaks up that play.

The Combo LB is just plain old wrong on so many levels. Not only are the ALGs mathematically worse, they are theoretically terrible. Why a LB would ever want or need a major in Confidence is beyond me. It's like they took a concept that was bad and made it completely worthless on purpose.
