These guides are for use with the ¤ Rebel Alliance ¤ Dot Starter Guide http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=5009067

You'll get specifics on what height and or weight to start with, and what attribute you want to shoot up to the second cap. Then the guide will lay out a rough plan for what to do with your first season, and then some vague ideas on how the rest of the build should go.

Man Specialist

Bonus SA: Optional (Shed Blocks, Wrap-up Tackle, Diving Tackle)

Height: Maximum for +2 Vision Weight: Optional

Big 3: Vision, Agility, Speed

Starting Build: 25 (27) Vision, 16 (14) Agility

Because you start out with 27 in Vision, you'll only need to buy +10% enhancement to start with. By Day 48 you'll be able to buy 1 SP and cap Vision at 49. Keep pounding Vision, but on Day -4, you have to buy Vision Multi-training, and start training Agility on the swing attribute. Because you skimped on your Vision enhancement, you can also buy the Agility enhancement at +20% at the same time. Day 0 you'll be able to 2-cap Vision at 61.50.Then on Day 2 go ahead and pick up the +20% enhancement for Vision.

Day 9/10: You'll 3-cap Vision. Congratz you're done with it Maintain double Training.

Day 19/20: You'll cap Agility. Maintain 2-way Training. Buy a SP if you need to, but unless you were unlucky with training, by Day 20 you shouldn't need to.

Day 31/32: You 2-cap Agility at 61 even. Now you can start your 4-way multi-training. Unlock Agility and Speed, and then enhance Speed 20%, and get the Jumping enhancement at 10%--that'll be your first swing. Set training to Vision/Agility/Speed with Jumping on the swing.

Hang onto your boosts no matter what your playoff chances are.

Before Day 48, boost twice and 3-cap Agility, then boost up and hold what ever is left over. You'll want to grab the 30% enhancement for Speed before the season is over and it won't hurt to get it as early as you can.

That's the meat and potatoes of this build. It's 4 AEQ so Light Training should start around Age 160. Run up Speed at little bit to make use of the 30% enhancement. Speed will get a 6-cap, Jumping just gets a 2-cap Tackling should probably be next with a 3-cap and then a double cap of stamina rounds out the build. From there you'll have options, you can run up catching for more INTs, or get a heavier dose of confidence, or get some strength built in. For this build I'll do minimum confidence and pack in as much strength as I can.

Hopefully you'll end up with something like this or better

With the 64 extra SPs, I'd do something like...

CBs
Top SA Tree: | 4(5) | 4(5) | 8(9) | 2(3) | 4(11) |
Bottom SA Tree: | 7(11) | 3 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Additional SA Tree: | 0 |

Luckily, the Man CB gets everything he needs in the trees, so the Bonus SA is irrelevant. CBs are fairly SA intensive and they also need a variety of gear. 15% Deflect Ball, 15% Avoid Fake, 15% Make Tackle. With the 4th Piece grab Shutdown Coverage. Then the CEQ bonus should go to +4 1st Step.

FSs have a very well organized tree for coverage
Top SA Tree: | 4(11) | 4(5) | 5(6) | 9(10) | 6(11) |
Bottom SA Tree: | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Additional SA Tree: | 0 |

FSs would get a very similar set up for AEQ... 15% Deflect Ball, 15% Avoid Fake, 15% Make Tackle. With the 4th Piece grab 1st Step. Then the CEQ bonus should go to +4 Shutdown Coverage.

SSs are harder to do man coverage with; you'd need both SDC and 1st Step as bonus SAs, then SPs would go something like...
Top SA Tree: | 7(8) | 8(9) | 4(5) | 1(2) | 0(1) |
Bottom SA Tree: | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Additional SA Tree: | 5(11) | 6(10) | 1st Step | Shutdown Coverage |

Very similar AEQ set up for the SS... 15% Deflect Ball, 15% Avoid Fake, 15% Make Tackle. With the 4th Piece grab 1st Step. Then the CEQ bonus should go to +4 Shutdown Coverage.

Hopefully the method to the madness is understandable. You hit Vision and Agility before Speed so they can get into the mid 90's, and then you stack all the gear in Speed. Super Vision is very nice, but it's 1st Step that allows you not to get smoked by the 160+ Speedster WRs, and then SDC makes up the difference.

Zone Specialist

For the Zone Specialist, the build doesn't change from the Man Specialist. http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=5018988&page=1#46630591
The only difference is how the VAs are spent.

For CBs, the Bonus VA should be Zone Focus, which is very relevant, and then the 64 SPs would go something like...

Top SA Tree: | 4(5) | 5(6) | 9(10) | 0(1) | 0(1) |
Bottom SA Tree: | 4(10) | 4 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Additional SA Tree: | 6(10) |

AEQ choices would become, 15% Deflect, 15% Avoid Fake, 15% Make Tackle and then +6 1st Step. CEQ would go for +4 Zone Focus.

For FSs, pretty much the same idea...
Top SA Tree: | 4(11) | 5(6) | 4(5) | 6(11) | 0(1) |
Bottom SA Tree: | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Additional SA Tree: | 10 | ZF

AEQ choices would become, 15% Deflect, 15% Avoid Fake, 15% Make Tackle and then +6 1st Step. CEQ would go for +4 Super Vision.

SSs again, a little harder, but pretty much the same as man coverage--swapping ZF for SDC
Top SA Tree: | 7(8) | 8(9) | 4(5) | 1(2) | 0(1) |
Bottom SA Tree: | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Additional SA Tree: | 5(11) | 6(10) | 1st Step | ZF |

Very similar AEQ set up for the SS... 15% Deflect Ball, 15% Avoid Fake, 15% Make Tackle. With the 4th Piece grab 1st Step. Then the CEQ bonus should go to +4 Zone Focus.

This is another 4 AEQ build, so start Light Training around Age 160. 6-cap Speed, 4-cap Strength, and you can only sneak in a 3-cap of Agility because you'll want a good dose of VAs. Because of the higher Strength of this build, you can get away with just a 1-cap of Stamina.

This is how mine turned out this time around...

CBs don't make especially good Heavy Hitters. Their Bonus SAs have to be Head Hunter and Monster Hit. They don't get access to Big Hit or Jackhammer because they can't really afford it without handicapping the build.

AEQ would be 15% Avoid Fake, 15% Make Tackle, +6 Super Vision, +6 1st Step. The CEQ bonus should go to either 12% Force Fumbles or another +6% Make Tackle.

FSs are in much better shape. They get Big Hit as a bonus which lets them get more out of Head Hunter.

Combo DB

The Combo archetype for DBs is probably the best of the Combo types. There's a couple different directions you can go with it. This time around I'll use it for the "CornerBacker". The concept is a run stopping CB. Strength and Agility are the attributes for breaking blocks, and the Combo CB gets both as Majors. High Speed is still available, and the build can still get a pretty good amount of Vision in, so he won't be totally lost in coverage or when having to switch to and from run support.

Bonus SA: Optional (Jackhammer, Disguise Blitz, Zone Focus)

Height: Minimum for +2 Agility Weight: Maximum for +2 Strength

Big 3: Strength, Agility, Speed

Starting Build: 25 (27) Strength, 16 (18) Agility

We're going to change the routine here a little bit. You start with 27 Strength, so just pick up the 10% Strength enhancement. Intense train until Day 48, buy a SP and cap Strength at 49. Then boost up, hold your SPs, and keep on Intense training. Day -4, you have to buy the Strength multi-training, and start training Strength with Agility. At the same time buy the 20% Agility enhancement. Day 0 you can 2-cap Strength and SURPRISE you're done with it. Now switch to Intense Agility training.

Day 11/12: Cap Agility. Now switch back to Strength/Agility multi-training and buy the 20% Strength enhancement.

Day 23/24: 2-cap Agility. Maintain double training.

Day 31/32: Just in time for the playoffs, 3-cap Agility. Now you can unlock 4-way training. Unlock agility and speed multi-training, pick up the 20% speed enhancement, and you have enough to pick up the 10% Vision enhancement. Set training to Strength/Agility/Speed with Vision on the swing. Also, you'll need to pick up the 30% enhancement for speed ASAP, which should be Day 36.

Hold your boosts, no matter what your playoff chances are.

Anytime after Day 40, you can boost once and 4-cap Agility. Buy a SP if you have to. Then boost up and hold your SPs.

From here just take Speed up to the 6-cap. 4-cap Vision, 3-cap Tackling, and 2-cap Stamina. It's a 4 AEQ build so start on Light Training somewhere around Age 160. If you keep your swing attribute under 30, you can get something like...

So, the idea behind this is primarily a run stopping CB, but he'll also do ok in coverage and if you pick up Disguise Blitz, he could do that too.
With a SA spread like this...
Top SA Tree: | 1(2) | 2(3) | 4(11) | 2(3) | 4(9) |
Bottom SA Tree: | 5(11) | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Additional SA Tree: | 9 | Disguise Blitz

Your AEQ will be 15% Avoid Fake, 15% Make Tackle, +6 Super Vision, +6 1st Step. The CEQ bonus would be +4 SDC.

So on running plays this CB will be locking up with WRs, and the 92 Strength 97 Agility should chew them up and spit them out. Then he'll have pretty good tackling ability as well. Then on pass plays, even though his vision is a little low, he'll have anti-fake from Super Vision and Anti-fake gear so with the help of Shutdown Coverage, he'll be able to hang with most backs coming out of the backfield with no issues. If there's no one to cover, then he can bee-line for the QB.

In the first instance with a Rookie Combo CB, where do you think free equipment and custom EQ is best used? I'm inclined to think 4 (Free) on Str and 6 (Custom)on Agil. Or vice versa? As he's capping Str early and moving on to Agil, is it better to favour agility? He's going to be stronger than most any WR already but he's going to be a slow-poke. 10 in Speed?

I'd guess speed, so that they can move a little.
