Below are various abbreviations in the various stat categories. I know many of you are curious as to what each means, so...here they are. Some stats will change if you're viewing the overall stats or the player's stat sheet directly. (Some categories will actually duplicate.):


Passing Statistics -


G = Games Played - This is how many games the player has played in.

Yds = Passing Yards Gained - This is the total amount of passing yards gained by the player.

Comp = Completions - This is the number if passes completed by the player.

Att = Attempts - This the amount of passes attempted by the player.

PCT = Pass Percentage - This the pass percentage of the player. (Number of passes completed divided by the number of passes attempted.)

Att/G = Pass Attempts Per Game - This is the number of passes that the player has attempted per game.

Yds/G = Yards Per Game - This is the amount of yards per game that the player gets. (Passing yards divided by the number of games played.)

Yds/Att = Yards Per Attempt - This is the amount of Passing yards gained on each pass attempt. (Passing yards divided by the number of passes.)

Yds/Comp = Yards per Completion - This is the amount of yards gained on each pass completed by the player. (Passing yards divided by the number of completions.)

TD = (Passing) Touchdowns - This is the amount of Touchdowns thrown by the player.

Int = Interceptions Thrown - This is the number of interceptions that the player has thrown.

Hurried = Well, Hurried - This is amount of time that the player has been forced to throw the ball before he was really ready to.

Sack = Sacked - This is the amount of times the player has been sacked, each time they got the ball and dropped back behind the Line of Scrimmage (Los).

Rushing Statistics -


G = Games Played - This is how many games the player has played in.

Rush = Rushing Attempts - This is the amount of rushing attempts/carries by the player.

Rush/G = Rushes Per Game - This is the amount of rushing attempts/carries per game by the player. (Amount of rushing attempts divided by the number of games played.)

Yds = Rushing Yards Gained - This is the amount of Rushing Yards gained by the player.

Avg = Average Rushing Yards - This is the player's average rushing yards. (Rushing yards divided by carries.)

Yds/G = Rushing Yards Per Game - This is the average rushing yards gained by the player per game. (Rushing yards divided by the amount of games played.)

TD = (Rushing) Touchdowns - This is the amount of Touchdowns that the player has has scored by running with the ball.

Fum = Fumble - This is the amount of times that the player has Fumbled the ball.

FumL = Fumbles Lost - This is the amount of time that the player has fumbled the ball and failed to recover it for his team.

Receiving Statistics -


G = Games Played - This is how many games the player has played in.

Rec = Receptions Made - This is the amount of passes caught (receptions)/called catches made by the player.

Rec/G = Receptions Per Game - This is the amount of receptions made/passes caught per game by the player. (Catches made divided by the number of games played.)

Yds = Receiving Yards Gained - This is the amount of Receiving Yards gained by the player.

Avg = Average Receiving Yards - This is the player's average receiving yards. (Receiving yards divided by catches/receptions.)

Yds/G = Receiving Yards Per Game - This is the average receiving yards gained by the player per game. (Receiving yards divided by the amount of games played.)

Avg YAC = Average Yards After Catch - This is the average amount of yards the player gains after catching the ball thrown to him.

TD = (Receiving) Touchdowns - This is the amount of Touchdowns that the player has has scored by catching the ball.

Drops = Dropped Passes - This is the amount of times that the player has dropped a pass thrown to him.

Kick/Punt Return Statistics -


G = Games Played - This is how many games the player has played in.

KR = Kick Returns - This is the amount of Kickoffs that have been returned by the player.

KR Yds = Kick Return Yards - This is the amount yards gained on kickoffs by the player.

KR Avg = Kick Return Average - This is the average amount of yards gained on kick returns by the player. (Kick Return Yards divided by the number of kick returns.)

KR TD = Kick Return Touchdowns - This is the amount of Touchdowns scored by the player on kick returns.

PR = Punt Returns - This is the amount of Punts that have been returned by the player .

PR Yds = Punt Return Yards - This is the amount yards gained on kickoffs by the player.

PR Avg = Punt Return Average - This is the average amount of yards gained on punt returns by the player. (Punt Return Yards divided by the number of punt returns.)

PR TD = Punt Return Touchdowns - This is the amount of Touchdowns scored by the player on punt returns.

Kicking & Punting Statistics -


G = Games Played - This is how many games the player has played in.

FGM = Field Goals Made - This is the amount of Field Goals that have been kicked by the player.

FGA = Field Goals Attempted - This is the amount times that the player has attempted to score by kicking a Field Goal.

PCT = Percentage - This is the percentage of kicks made by the player that have resulted in field goals. (Field Goals Made divided by Field Goals Attempted Multiplied by 100.)

0-19 = Field Goals Kicked Within 0 to 19 Yards - This is the amount of field goals that have been kicked and scored within that range by the player. (This shows you the amount of Field Goals Made and the amount of Field Goals Attempted. Here's what it looks like 10/10, which means the player made 10 of the 10 kicks he attempted.)

20-29 = Field Goals Kicked Within 20 to 29 Yards - This is the amount of field goals that have been kicked and scored within that range by the player. (This shows you the amount of Field Goals Made and the amount of Field Goals Attempted. Here's what it looks like 10/12, which means the player made 10 of the 12 kicks he attempted.)

30-39 = Field Goals Kicked Within 30 to 39 Yards - This is the amount of field goals that have been kicked and scored within that range by the player. (This shows you the amount of Field Goals Made and the amount of Field Goals Attempted. Here's what it looks like 9/13, which means the player made 9 of the 13 kicks he attempted.)

40-49 = Field Goals Kicked Within 40 to 49 Yards - This is the amount of field goals that have been kicked and scored within that range by the player. (This shows you the amount of Field Goals Made and the amount of Field Goals Attempted. Here's what it looks like 11/17, which means the player made 11 of the 17 kicks he attempted.)

50+ = Field Goals Kicked Over 50 Yards - This is the amount of field goals that have been kicked and scored within that range by the player. (This shows you the amount of Field Goals Made and the amount of Field Goals Attempted. Here's what it looks like 5/9, which means the player made 5 of the 9 kicks he attempted.)

FGA/G = Field Goals Attempted Per Game - This is the average amount of field goals attempted each game by the player. (Field Goals Attempted divided by the amount of games played.)

XPM = Extra Points Made - This is the amount of extra points, the point after a TD has been scored, kicked by the player.

XPA = Extra Points Attempted - This is the amount of extra points, the point after a TD has been scored, attempted by the player.

PCT = Percentage - This is the percentage of extra points kicked by the player that have resulted in extra points scored. (Extra Points Made divided by Extra Points Attempted Multiplied by 100.)

XPA/G = Extra Points Attempted Per Game - This is the average amount of extra points attempted each game by the player. (Extra Points Attempted divided by the amount of games played.)

P = Punts - This is the amount of Punts kicked by the player.

PYds = Punt Yards - This is the amount of yards that have been kicked on punts by the player.

AvgPYds = Average Punt Yards - This is the average amount of yards each punt has been kicked by the player. (Punt yards divided by the number of punts.)

Defense Statistics -


G = Games Played - This is how many games the player has played in.

Tk = Tackles - This is the amount of tackles made by the player.

MsTk = Missed Tackles - This is the amount missed tackles made by the player.

Hurry = Well, Hurry - This is the amount of times the passer (QB) has had to throw the ball before he wanted to due to the pressure applied by the player.

Sack = Sack - This is the amount of times the player has brought down the passer (QB) behind the Line of Scrimmage (LoS), thus resulting in a Sack.

SackYd = Sack Yards - This is the amount of yards lost by the passer (QB) because of being sacked by the player.

PD = Pass Deflections - This is amount of balls passed that have been deflected by the player, which usually results in an incomplete pass...but sometimes results in an interception.

Int = Interception - This is the amount of Interceptions made by the player.

Int Ret Yds = Interception Return Yards - This is the amount of yards gained by the player after he has intercepted the ball.

Int Ret Td = Interception Return Touchdowns - This is the amount of interceptions that have been returned for a touchdown by the player after he has intercepted the ball.

FFum = Forced Fumbles - This is the amount of Fumbles Forced by the player, which sometimes results in a turnover.

Fum Rec = Fumble Recoveries - This is the amount of Fumbles that have been recovered by the player.

Fum Ret Yds = Fumble Return Yards - This is the amount of yards gained by the player after he has recovered the ball that has been fumbled.

Fum Ret Td = Fumble Return for Touchdown - This is the amount of Touchdowns made by the player after he has recovered the ball that has been fumbled.

Sfty = Safety - This is the amount Safeties caused by the player, which is the result of tackling a player in their own endzone.

Blocking & Other Statistics -


G = Games Played - This is how many games the player has played in.

Pancakes = Well, Pancakes - This is the amount of pancakes made by the player. (A pancake is the result of an offensive lineman making a particularly hard block that leaves the blocked player lying flat on the field.)

Total TD = Total Amount of Touchdowns Scored - This shows the Total Amount of Touchdowns for all players, starting with the player who has the most TD's.

First Downs = First Downs Gained - This shows the Total Amount of 1st Downs for all players, starting with the player who has the most 1st Downs gained for his team.

Plays = Plays Made - This shows the Total Amount of Plays Made by all players, starting with the player who has the most plays made.

Plays/G = Plays Made Per Game - This shows the Total Amount of Plays Made Per Game by all players, starting with the player who has the most plays made per game.

I saw a stat on my running back, it was TFL = Tackled for Loss.

What is ply for a defensive player in a game box score? I assume plays, but not sure.

In your Pass deflections, I'd like to state that the receiver can still have a completion (kind of lame but trust me it happens.... a lot).

It seems like it happens way too often. I understand it happens in football, but if a ball is deflected, the odds of a receiver still grabbing it are slim.

It all depends on your defenders deflection ability, and the WR's catching ability.
