These two threads capture most of the traffic on the oddities seen with pitch plays starting with todays games.

In an event which is only triggered by a running a strong-side pitch in a "weak I" formation, the RB sees the hole created by the RG vacating as his best option and takes off into that hole. Every time.

Depending on the RB's vision, most times he heads towards that hole until he detects a threat in there. Then he bee-lines or attempts to bee-line right to the designated "outside run" spot at the CB2 area of the LOS. He'll either get pummeled in the "non-hole", or get taken down en route to his "happy place" at the CB2 spot.

The threads contain numerous replay links of this phenomenon from different teams against different defenses, but one common factor seems to be Weak I formation pitch play.

Thanks for doing the leg work sbuck! I'll take a look at that play. Other pitch plays seemed to work properly?

Yes. Here are some examples from my game today.

(Weak I wonkiness)

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=91983&pbp_id=6044608

(normal I formation - works as intended)

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=91983&pbp_id=6043224
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=91983&pbp_id=6046886

- important to note here, that big gap created by the RG is definitely there, but the HB totally ignores it and proceeds correctly following the FB or RG into a sweep / pitch route.

Probably a difference in the play definition for the HB's movement targets.

Single Back pitch plays didn't do a pitch / sweep at all, but all seemed to go off-tackle instead.

As a nice frame of reference, here are some weak I pitch plays from my game two days ago. Same player involved. And this is against a much stronger defense. There seems to be a slight slight pause as he gets the ball, then he shoots off towards the corner.

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=91978&pbp_id=5557006

In this one the pause is more noticeable.

It definitely looks like the RB thinks about hitting the hole, then hauls ass over to the standard " outside run" spot right by CB2.

Question: Does this seem to happen every time the play is called, or is it just certain players who are having troubles?

Every time the play was called no matter the personnel. We rotate our backs and it happened to both of them.

Pssssst while you're in there tinkering, how about adding a pitch to the weak side out of the weak I. lol just kidding. Or am I?

Would probably be a sweep, eh?

Well I'm just glad to know you're on it. Many many thanks Bort. My wife hates you with a passion, but I don't.

Ok, plays have been updated. RB should head outside pretty much every time. Lemme know how it goes tomorrow.

it just looked like he was heading back for a half second to hit that 'beginning' of his sweep route.

Bort, thanks for getting this fixed so quickly (and thanks, sbuck, for helping to diagnose it).
