These two threads capture most of the traffic on the oddities seen with pitch plays starting with todays games.
In an event which is only triggered by a running a strong-side pitch in a "weak I" formation, the RB sees the hole created by the RG vacating as his best option and takes off into that hole. Every time.
Depending on the RB's vision, most times he heads towards that hole until he detects a threat in there. Then he bee-lines or attempts to bee-line right to the designated "outside run" spot at the CB2 area of the LOS. He'll either get pummeled in the "non-hole", or get taken down en route to his "happy place" at the CB2 spot.
The threads contain numerous replay links of this phenomenon from different teams against different defenses, but one common factor seems to be Weak I formation pitch play.
