What rock have folks been under? Carrying is the #1 skill for reducing drops. Catching increases your range and yes makes short-range grabs easier, but depending on your QB a big catch radius can actually increase your # of drops.

You forgot Strength and Blocking. If a WR can't block, he's got no business being in the starting lineup.

Not that I don't believe you, but do you have a post from Bort...or even a sticky'd FAQ that has this info?

Can you provide proof of your analysis or data on your GLB agent survey to prove this?

Didn't think so. thanks for the bump anyway

Because I gotta be honest, I have seen more than a few high strength WR's work wonders. But then again that would knock you down from that high horse you sit on and make you actually think.

Were you looking for more than this? Because Bort never gives out the formulas.

Wouldn't it make sense that the sim would have some sort of transition phase from catching to carry for YAC? If the defender hits the receiver anytime during this short phase the ball could get dislodged causing a drop or incomplete?

If you watch enough replays you will see WR's dropping the ball from getting touched right after catching it, so you're right on the money.

Dropping a ball after catching it is called a fumble.

Carrying does not help with drops. Get over the semantics of the title for the training. Coverage drills train vision and jumping, so you'd think based off the title that a CB should only train these two attributes because their sole job is to cover people. Just accept that there isn't a better name and that carrying won't help with drops.

Bort doesn't give out precise info on the formulas. Most of my info comes from monitoring various forums, and then advising people on their builds (or modifying my own builds where appropriate). Most catches are in traffic, and Bort is on the record saying Carrying helps with getting hit while catching.

I'm not suggesting people should be capping carrying, by the way. Your goal shouldn't be eliminating drops ... I doubt that's even possible. It should be spending your points in the most efficient manner possible. If your Carrying is artificially low - because it's been ignored, for instance - then it is an excellent place for a 5-10 point improvement, especially if your majors are capped.

Bort just posted on it again. You should revisit what you think you know from watching PBPs.

You "catch" a ball and get hit and still end up with an incomplete pass. Catching != Completion.

He's arguing with Bort about how the game works? CLASSIC!
