World League already exists folks.
Here, where a "1-8" team is the Wolfpack's sweet 16 PWT opponent

http://goallineblitz.com/game/league.pl?league_id=1

seriously, how the hell did that happen?

Pretty easy group with the gutted Portland Rage. They still beat a 6-3 6th place WEPL team and a 8-1 3rd place SEAPL team though..

LOL other leagues.

You forgot to mention those teams were their leagues defending champs.

THIS ISN'T SEASON 9 ANYMORE KID

Why do you keep saying this VT? If I'm in OPL, why would I lose interest because I'll never make it to WPL anymore than if I was in the old USA A knowing I'll never make it to USA Pro? Or today stuck somewhere capped in the cloud having to wait forever just to be a AA somewhere?

Most teams don't play because they believe in some grand illusion that they'll make it to any pro league by the time their 10 seasons are up. If so, there would be a lot, lot fewer teams in GLB.

Pro leagues are reserved for the best of the best. Most agents/owners get that. WPL would give the best of the best something more to play for.

Under your logic, nobody should try to win USA Pro today because after all, you have no next level to play for after that.

I doubt your conclusion, but I suppose neither one of us could prove it.

I would guess though, that most teams play to advance and win in the manner set forth in the game (You don't play Resident Evil to build sandcastles). In fact, if you're correct and most teams aren't playing to do anything but win their league, they're going to be punished. They'll win their league and get promoted to a league in which they have no interest/can't compete in.

good point VT.

This is another reason it needs to be equitable for all leagues

I don't want any league to get special considerations and that in the beginning all regions should be represented equally. After that, you need to earn your keep. All regions get a chance to get to WPL through winning their region title game. But you have to win to stay in. No excuses, play like a champion. If you lose and you feel bad, too bad, maybe you shouldn't suck and get demoted. Can't see how this isn't fair. It's completely fair and lets the teams do all the talking and takes the big brother stuff out of the equation.

What's wrong with this? Should the other teams spot them 2tds every game? If you can't compete, you don't deserve to get all the frills and self esteem boost of being a top team. If that hurts their feelings so much they can either get over it and be happy where they are, try to get better, or gut. It's the same for teams in every single league (uncapped clouds, AA, AAA, Pros)

I'm not sure what post you're replying too, but what you listed has nothing to do with what he and I were talking about (i.e. the motivations of team owners/players).

To your point though, teams gutting (at a high rate) is very much a bad thing for the game.

Each region has its own division and conferences based on hemisphere. Worst team in region gets demoted, champion from that region gets promoted. I would love it this way because people will still whine about one division being too good, which is what the game really needs!

this suggestion for the pro league merits more attention. 8 divisions each representing the 8 pro leagues and worst team in the league gets replaced by the league champion.

cliffs:

start with 4 teams from each league.

each season the bottom half of the the world league moves back to their respective pro leagues. every pro conference winner gets promoted to the world league.

this will mean that over an extended period of time the best leagues will have more people in the league, but each regional pro league will be represented by at least 2 pro teams each season.

This is how it should be done.

Make the WPL playoffs, you stay. Don't and you get bounced for new blood.

If this is going to be an elite league it needs to be built to be a serious struggle to survive in it and should not be based on regional quotas (the first season is fine, just to get it going, but the fair shake should end there.)

Any half-assed attempt that falls short of this will make the league a joke.

It's already been suggested. It falls victim to the same "XXXXX division is going to suck" problem.

Teams already gut at a high rate. Aren't there like 4-5 guts in SAPL already at midseason? Wouldn't a WPL make the normal pro leagues slightly easier by taking the 2-3 dominant 16-0 teams out of it? So more teams would be able to compete and be less likely to gut?

i think the top teams from each region should be given first rights to enter the World league. I could see some teams like OPL pro champs not wanting to go for the World league....so I think they should be given the option to Opt out of the World league. In that case we can use those statistical rankings you posted to determine the replacement team (likely a USA team).

The WPL makes all current PRO leagues AAA leagues. You may have heard someone say "AAA trophies don't count" before, now we'll get 8 more leagues that applies too.

It will obviously make them easier, but it will also make them useless.

Yea, i guess if they don't want to go up that's cool. But kinda silly. Why wouldn't they just throw the title game and let a OPL team that actually wants in, in. Why are they competiting if they don't want to play good teams. If this is the case bort just needs to eliminate OPL or other leagues like this from GLB and merge them. You don't deserve to be a pro league for self esteem reasons if this is the case

Gart's system is actually the most fair if teams don't care where they get demoted to.

i wouldnt purposely lose if given the chance, but the OPL champ is going to get wrecked in the Pro league so they may not want it. This could be true for every region....the Champ may not want to deal with the World league beatings.

Still doesnt change the fact i think each region should be given the same OPPORTUNITY to represent in the world league. But if their top teams opt out its fair game to replace with best from any region
