Much like REAL NFL, players weights fluctuate.

Some guys hire a nutritionist, other guys bulk up through strength and conditioning coaches

What about the idea to use bonus tokens in order to hire either a strength coach or a nutritionist.

There could be some limitations on it.

for instance, for every purchase (4 tokens)

a player can either gain 5 lbs (Strength) or lose 5 lbs (Nutritionist).

This can only be used twice during the offseason so no player can gain or lose more than 10 lbs.

Also there should still be top and bottom weight limits. for instance a CB will be between 180 - 205 for instance. So if my CB was 183 and i decided i wanted to go down, my limit would be 180.

The reason for this is sometimes players change there focus. I may want to build a speedster and then the team i go to may want to use him as a possession WR.

But what happens to the Skills you gained/lost at creation?
What would stop someone from making a short/fat lineman to get Strength/Block/Agility up, and then making him tall over a season or two?

EDIT: The best thing to do is know what build you have in mind at the start and try not to deviate. Besides, 5-10 pounds isn't a killer either way.

I think they could automatically adjust. If you get leaner, you should naturally get a little faster or more agile and vice versa.

Things change, people redefine themselves. if you change 5-10 lbs in real life, you will be leaner, more agil, maybe have a little more step.

I think it's a novel idea.

for guys getting pushed around on the line because they are too small they bulk up a bit.

it's one more piece of reality to the game that would be easy to set up

so lets say i rolled a wr a few seasons ago and he was 192 lbs. I loved the roll except the weight. As he is training adding speed, getting faster... the 192 lbs still holds him back a bit. I'd much rather see him at 182 than 192.

Hmm.. Maybe this could be an option for normal training. Obviously you can't change your height but you can train your weight up.

Normal Training:
No activity (small training bonus)
Go Shopping (1 shopping token)
Night Out on the Town (+1 Moral)
Take a Jog (-X amount of weight)
Go to the Buffet (+X amount of weight)

Perhaps older players (at a ratio, b/c it seems to affect you more the bigger you are) begin to naturally gain weight (much like IRL). This would make your option good, b/c then you can counter-act that weight gain...but it won't necessarily be easy, and you may have to sacrifice something else (like going to the bars, lol).

Yeah there are a lot of ways to do it, i think we should have some kind of way to tweak weight

Isn't weight already factored into speed/acceleration?

Also -1 to being able to change your height...

Some natural weight game seems cool also, but if weight is already factored into speed/acceleration it seems as though the current aging penalties would be compounded by adding this...

I dunno. I am fine with just picking a height and weight and sticking with it, for simplicity. For pro football players, weight loss and weight gain usually has more to do with real life interfering than it has to do with purposeful change. Personally I would put that down with injuries on the priority list.
There are two stages in a player's playing days, of course:
Adult: It seems to me that most players in their pro career actually do not change their weight much if at all during their career, and their height obviously doesn't change.
Child: Obviously children grow, fast. If you think about it, a level 1 dot is basically like a 6 year-old. Are they going to start off as 4' tall too?
It might actually make sense for height and weight to increase for a certain period. Start out, pick your target height and weight, you'll start out maybe 67% of that height and 33% of that weight. Then gain height gradually until 200d old, and gain weight gradually until level 38, or something.

They are. But IMO, they shouldn't be. Instead, they should factor into your automatic level gains.
