I'm sure there are more, but can't think of any off the top of my head. Didn't he say the stimulus would prevent us from going over 8% unemployment? I can't find any videos or stories on that.

Did you get the one where Obama talks about doctors making tons of money from cutting off the feet of diabetics, instead of treating the diabetes? It is where he is flat out lying while overestimating the cost of procedures 30x to scare the public. Or the one where Obama talks about doctors preferring to cut out healthy tonsils because they make more money, without any proof at all?

I thought demonizing doctors to try to push through his agenda was nifty.

Naw, she usually just bangs on the floor with her slippers and leaves a plate near the door. But thanks for your concern.

try to find a link and I'll keep them here for later when anyone wants to pretend that Obama didn't fuck up talking a TON.

There was also one in the primary where he was talking about he believed that Osama was somewhere near the western border of Pakistan in a forest. Someone pointed out that there are no trees in that section. It was new for about 1 day, but hardly any ink was given to it. The few reports that were published seem to be gone now.

That's why I started this thread though...so I can add to my list if anyone has a link.

I'd counter with a list of conservative blunders, scandals, and outright lies but just including the ones from the last five years or so would have me typing constantly into next year...

Typing up a list of gaffes by someone, just shows how poor your debate skills are in arguing with someone on the issues anyway...it's basically an admission of defeat.

You really need to change your forum name to something that suits you more.

Biggest blunder was obviously accepting the office of the presidency immediately following the worst president since the US emerged as a super power. But that was what it was going to take to get a black man elected, so it was inevitable.

The best part is, now idiot rednecks can blame the black man for all the stupid shit their candidate created. Pass that buck!

Failing to provide leadership, especially on health care. The President sweeps into office, demands nebulous "reform", takes a few options off the table in deals to keep industry from running ads against his effort, and turns the rest over to Congress.

Doing so allowed the debate to be dragged out into a public forum, and all the dirty little secrets, politicking and BS accounting came out. I'm not saying these things don't happen on most issues, I'm just saying that in this case, people actually cared about them, because they were defining the product we were going to get.

While the Tea Party movement already existed, it was this public display of everything wrong with government that really got things going. We had:

- Industries (pharma and the insurers themselves) bribed with special White House deals from the start to support HCR, because they were afraid of the "Harry and Louise" ads the industries used against Hillarycare ... while the same people who made the deal spent the next year calling the insurers the villains of the story.
- The writing off of all Republican concerns except for those necessary to snag Olympia Snowe (failing even at that). Their response to Republican claims they should have more input than just being invited to meetings, that the actual policy needed to be adjusted, was to add a single one of the R's points so they could claim it was a compromise and then fall back on "elections have consequences" ... the political equivalent of "You lost. STFU". Then we were treated to all the surprise and outrage when Republicans, having been cut out of the process, decided to extend the middle finger in response.
- On top of thoroughly infuriating the right, we then had the writing off of all left concerns to avoid being seen as radical (here's a hint ... big changes are radical, by definition). Then we had the whining of the President's top advisor because some guys on the Internet weren't happy that they're "fucking retarded". So basically, they managed to screw over everyone on both sides who had actual policy issues on their mind ... except pharma companies and health insurers, who had their deal already.
- Buying the votes of individual legislators. Louisiana Purchase for Landrieu, Cornhusker Kickback for Nelson, and any one of a number of unsuccessful attempts to buy Olympia Snowe.
- So-called leaders staking out positions and then abandoning them at the slightest hint of resistance. See the 150+ Dems who signed a petition saying they wouldn't vote for any HCR without a public option, the Progressive Caucus except for Kucinich, the Stupak bloc, Senators like Rockefeller (VA) and Sanders (VT) who said they would oppose any HCR without certain provisions that it didn't end up containing and that they voted for anyhow.
- The we-don't-need-to-read-the-bill-because-nobody-can-possibly-understand-it flare up. I'm sure that played well in Peoria.
- 6 years of expenses booked against 10 years of revenue to meet the "deficit neutral" requirement - accounting that would get any SEC-regulated company's officials thrown in jail ... roughly similar what Enron did, but instead of using fake companies to offload expenses outside the country, the CBO just ignores 4 years of expenses.
- Deem and pass. I don't care how many times it's been done before. Pretending like you didn't vote on something and then approving it into law is BS. Especially if the only reason you're doing it is to ...
- Get around the MA Special Election results. Blocking HCR was a big part of Brown's campaign and is the only real electoral test (apart from generic "reform") HCR went through.

It's no coincidence the first 95% of America heard from the Tea Party was the August '09 "town halls" on healthcare.

Well, he is trained in law, and it is largely the fault of lawyers that we pay so much for many medical procedures.
It's too bad he wouldn't mention something like that.
