It's a pain to support other people's code, so I think if anyone was going to volunteer to fix the old one, they would have done it already. I'm certainly not looking forward to it.

The scripts are still installed, but they disappear from the config file, so they might as well have been deleted. Those scripts can't be used until the config file is repaired and the easiest way to repair it is just to reinstall the "missing" scripts.
