** In April 2010 we made major revisions to the financial system, for an accurate thread that includes these details please follow this link: http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=3946717 **
Tickets will not be sold during the offseason. They will be sold on the first day of the season\ preseason!!
1. How much money do I start out with?
-----a. It appears that all new teams start out with $500,000 in seed money. On top of that you will receive money based upon your season ticket sales, which will be made on the first day of the season.
-----b. How much money you actually get will depend on the price of your tickets, the discount you give to season ticket holders and the demand, which is affected by what league you’re in and how well you’ve been doing
-----c. A very rough estimate of how much you can expect to start with is around $1-2 million.
2. What is the starting price of tickets?
-----a.The default for tickets range from $25-$50 for regular seats and $62-$100 for club seats depending on your league.
-----b. On your stadium site, there are now expected prices for the seats listed. You will also have access to "fan support" (divided by income level) which represents the demand for tickets from that group of people. The pricing of your tickets should be dependent upon what type of people (high, med or low income) are demanding your tickets. You will need to tweak the ticket price as the season moves along to maximize profits.
3. How do ticket sales work?
-----a. After the initial batch of season tickets have been bought, the rest of the tickets become available to be bought for each individual game. Demand for these tickets will change as you change the prices and win/lose. Tickets will be sold daily
-----b. Be aware that if you sold a good amount of your tickets as season tickets, the amount of money you will be receiving per game once the season gets rolling will greatly decrease because you only have so many tickets left, so budget wisely.
4. How much do I make in a year?
-----a. Once again it depends on how you set your ticket and concession prices, which is dependent upon team performance and the league you are in. It also depends on what type of discount you offered for season tickets and how many people took you up on that offer.
-----b. Also if you are a home team in the playoffs, you get a fresh infusion of cash because at this moment in time all the ticket/concession sales go to you.
-----c. A rough range based solely on ticket sales (and assuming you don’t have any additional sections and don’t make the playoffs) is somewhere in the $2-$4 million range
-----d. Every team has at least 8 home games (more if you're the home team in the playoffs)
5. How much do I get from concessions?
-----a. Like before, there are many factors that go into this, but if you manage things well, $100,000/game is a good rough estimate of what you can make.
6. Do I get money for making the playoffs?
-----a. Yes, both teams will get money regardless of whether you're the home team or not. This money is not taken from the home team's ticket sales, it is completely separate. This is how it's broken down:
Making it to round 1 (making it at all): $100k bonus
Making it to round 2: $200k bonus
Making it to round 3: $300k bonus
Making it to championship: $400k bonus
7. What does my stadium start out with?
-----a. 8000 regular seats and 600 club seats split into 2 sections.
8. What is the maximum amount of seats per section?
-----a. For the 2 sections you start out with: 5000 regular seats and 630 club seats
-----b. It differs for other sections
9. How much does it cost to do a stadium expansion?
-----a. To add 10 regular seats to an existing section = $10,000
-----b. To add 10 club seats to an existing section = $25,000
-----c. To add a corner section (4 corner)= $1 million (comes with 1840 seats)
-----d. To add an end section(2 end) = $1.5 million (comes with 2760 seats)
-----e. To add a sideline section (2 sideline) = $2.5 million (comes with 3250 seats)
-----f. Note: Extra seats are the only expansion that can be done during the season, all the other expansions take place during the offseason.
-----g. For a good in-depth cost analysis on expansion, visit this thread: http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=114853
10. What happens if I go into the red?
-----a. If you are in the negative for too long you will lose the team. The actual time frame hasn’t been set and it’s been dealt with in a case-by-case manner, but eventually (especially with the loans in place) there will be a more systematic way of dealing with teams who are fiscally irresponsible.
11. How do loans work?
-----a. You can take out a $1.5 million short-term high interest loan (27%) that is paid over the course of 40 days in 4 installments of $440,345.50. The clock will start ticking when you first take out the loan, regardless of whether you took it during the playoffs, offseason or regular season. If you miss 2 payments in a row, your team could get confiscated.
-----b. All calculations are based on the numbers from this site http://ray.met.fsu.edu/cgi-bin/amortize
12. What is a good contract to offer a player?
-----a. This is up to you as the owner. There are 2 commonly used formulas if you’re just hiring free agents (all based on 1 yr contracts):
----------i. (Level + 4) x $100 = daily salary; This is taken from the unofficial player's union
----------ii. (Projected level) x $75 = daily salary; This formula is based upon the fact that you want your player to be able to train on normal for the whole season.
----------iii. Bonuses should cover or defray the cost of equipment and upgrades during the season, so if a person will get to lvl 8, be mindful that he will have to pay $10000 to fully upgrade his equipment.
-----b. However, once you have an established team and have people who are willing to do what’s best for the team (and are very committed to the team), you might be able to get a “hometown discount” from them. To maximize this, you will want to sign them to long-term deals because if you keep on giving one year deals, the minimum salary will not allow you to have that much of a discount.
13. How long do I have to pay my players?
-----a. You will have to pay your players every day of the season, even during the playoffs. Make sure you save enough money to pay your players the last 8 days of the season because your cash flow will completely stop unless you’re one of the top 4 teams in the conference.
-----b. You do not pay players during the offseason.
14. Is there a financial penalty for dropping a player?
-----a. No, but this is a game involving people, so it is common courtesy to PM the person before you drop them, regardless of how they got onto your team in the first place. But you will not be able to get back the bonus that you gave or any of the salary you've already paid out. There is also the Team Chemistry penalty if that person or CPU is above level 5.
15. Are there any other things that I need to spend my money on besides building a stadium and paying players?
-----a. No. Do these things well and you will be financially stable.
Hopefully this will help new owners. If there is anything that needs to be added or fixed, please let me know. Thanks.
