This is referenced in the wiki.

Specifically this is all we know about the Lead Block SA or AEQ.

Any time a player is heading downfield with the RB following him, it's a lead block.

Bort answers the reference to a pulling guard, saying yes it does apply to him.

The larger question I have is what constitutes "RB following him"?

Does the RB have to be within a certain radius of the blocker for lead block to kick in, or is at as simple as "blocker's y coordinate on field is higher than ballcarrier's y coordinate".

"following" also implies a common direction of movement....

I'm sure we read too much into these, but when the developers refuse to disclose any specific game mechanics we're left to do just that.

Sure would be nice if people who actually knew how the game works were around to answer questions...

so does that mean playing on KOR, a blocker with lead block is a good idea?

This is a very good question IMO. I am curious to hear any answers. I think the interaction between the FB and HB was adjusted in the offseason to fix the FBs blocking on outside runs. Not sure if that changes anything at all.

Still this VA is popular with FBs. I wounder if it would help the O line or ST.

I bring it up because I keep rolling Lead Block AEQ for my centers as I aim for the Elusive Line General piece, and it dawned on me that maybe thats not a half bad SA to have for an OL. Or a blocking WR.

Well, we've learned (from the DPC) that a lineman is actually blitzing when rushing the passer. Lead Block would would likely work in a similar way, but hard to say for sure.

I doubt it would work on returns since it requires that an RB be following you and there is no RB position on special teams.

And the thread proves perfectly how many different entirely unprovable theories can be spun off. It's madness! Which is the correct one?

It is specifically tied to doing the "lead block" method of blocking. Standing around blocking a player on the line doesn't count. You've gotta be actively heading downfield, seeking out players to block. A C wouldn't find himself in that situation very often, since he's usually just eating up defenders on the line. It's much more valuable for a FB or TE or pulling G.

And, no, that situation does NOT apply on ST's.

Thanks. Glad I hadn't bought this for my Center yet.
