Shouldn't pure elusives suck running up the middle, ala reggie bush?

I don't disagree with that... The biggest issue we are talking about is like this....
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=918488&pbp_id=12158071

It is far too common to find an Elusive Fake/Juke a defender, and he immediately bounces back up and makes the tackle.

Is it feasible in RL? Yes.

Is it a regular occurrence in RL? No.

Is it a regular occurrence in GLB? Yes.

That is the issue a lot of us Elusive builders have is that the current state of the Sim.... The Elusive back is pretty much handicapped.

I'm behind in the thread, but watching this replay, what strikes me is that when the LB gets faked, the HB doesn't veer outside to avoid him. Thus he runs right by him and is in range for the diving tackle. The OLB is much further away when he first shrinks than he is when he un-shrinks.

It's because while a defender is faked/pancaked, he doesn't register as a threat.

Which may be part of the problem. The back needs to view him as a threat, but not so much that he veers away from the defender -- maybe he registers him as a very low threat of something.

This might be the most sensible thing posted in this thread so far.

As of now, there are tons of instances when backs fake out a defender, then run straight at him because he doesn't register as a tackling threat.

Here's just a few examples of a World League HB running right into the faked defender without changing their paths, allowing him to get up and make the tackle, instead of veering away:

Believe me, I am appreciative of the fact that fakes gain 2-3 extra yards in 1-on-1 situations. However, the realistic thing for an HB to do would be to not just take those extra yards, but avoid the defender altogether and change his path, veering in a different direction.

I don't believe this is a Vision-related issue since no HB in the game is immune to this. It's an HB threat-assessment issue which needs to be changed, as opposed to buffing fakes or nerfing something. The HB doesn't need to totally avoid the defender as he would if the defender were on his feet, but he needs to at least make an effort to go around, not through him(how big of an effort he made to go around the defender would be dependent on the HB's running style).

If anyone has something to add, post it up. I certainly think a positive change can come out of this.

Thanks Trev. I think this addition would be very realistic and needed.

Absolutely. Great idea. Maybe have the shrunken dot not register as big a threat but still as somewhat a threat so he can prioritize who to run from.

plz to be only doing this for fakes. if pancaked defenders are change, maybe handle it more delicately, like have there be a vision check to see if the ball carrier can "judge" what state the defender is going to be in by the time they would come in contact with that defender? so players with good vision can run over pancaked players and avoid ones that are close to getting up again? (with the default being, if they fail the vision check, they just ignore the player)

Outstanding.

JDR has a good point as well.
