If he did all custom slots you could basically have 11 man rosters for pass and run plays - when have you seen 11 players sprint on and off the field?
I could see having custom slots for all positions if we had a limit on the number of substitutions allowed per play between downs.
There was a thread on this the other day, I made your arguement. Deathblade had an idea to comprimise - custom slots by formation, not by play. So all your Weak I plays will have in HB1, Pro Set HB2. Prevents people from subbing in whole lines.

Along that lines, the rosters should be shrunk a bit. Let's face it, NFL has roster size majorly due to injuries during a game. Could skim 5-10 guys off GLB roster np imo.

Their #1 WR. Doesn't matter if he's strong side, weak side, slot, whatever. Perhaps in the Scout page for a team's roster, you could order their WRs 1-n, and then assign CBs to WRs 1-n (for man-to-man coverage).
That way the D can try to match up speed to speed, or whatever.
I'd like to figure out a method for that, actually: CB->WR matchups. I haven't managed to figure out an easy interface, though. It might just end up having to be a not-so-easy interface.
It should also be noted that Revis is pretty much the only CB in the NFL who does this

Has there been any thought of re-doing the automatic points for level-ups? I know it's all equal for everyone that plays, but two positions that baffle me are FB's and O-linemen. It seems strange to me that a FB wouldn't get an increase in speed but he gets points in tackling. The same could be said for OG's and other O-linemen that need to pull for blocking assignments. Would it be a good idea to allow players to select their major/minor attributes at the time of player creation? This would help people create their own unique builds and add more to the experience of player creation.
