...you can literally go through the entire game, the coverages on HBs and FBs are fucked. I'm lucky I was playing an awful team because this is a horrible sim.

What are their coverage cushion set to? and coverage style?

-100/semi if they're following instructions

If you look at these same defenders when they're on WRs, they are playing an appropriate tight cushion. It is only against HBs and FBs that they are tripling their coverage distance.

You might want to double check? It would be weird for this to be wide spread, but just you've noticed it so far. That's what makes me think 'settings' and not 'bug'.

Also -- are there times where they do seem to maintain the coverage distance you'd expect?

Now that I'm looking for it, it's happening on every play. And it's across all defenders it seems. I watch every game's pbp, this is the first game it has been like this, and I didn't touch the defensive AI for today (again, playing an awful team).

They only seem to maintain proper coverage distance on WRs. And I've even seen them adopt the enormous coverage there a few times.

Just checked - every output in my defensive AI is set to 1 yard cushion. Just no explanation for this.

Could it be due to this:

- Fixed some coverage intercept point math
- Fixed bug where coverage defenders could get faked out too much by tiny changes in route directions, most common on "curved" HB/FB routes behind the LOS

Ive got some too after the latest fix that looks the same. i'll post here shortly.

Notice the FS is on man coverage of the FB also . I switched these guy to man from cover w/o after last bug so the could just run in,bump off the line and then cover tight as guys were doing before the "fix".

have more if needed. From what i can see from my team is its guys who are now set to cover man. Before this game I changed a lot of cover w/o move settings to cover man, then the fix went into effect and now they are playing farther off then before the fix.

I found one I think

I've seen plays where the HB/FB are covered like gloves, then one pops up and gives a big cushion. I"m guessing it has to do with the starting spot of the defender. Those magical "way points" of Borts are a big secret factor. Find em and it's all good.

That could be true, but I'm pretty sure "finding magical way points" shouldn't be an important part of a football sim. Should be fixed so that players behave logically no matter where they start.

It has beensaid before that the cushion a D dot gives a defender is somewhat related to how far off the dot the defender starts the play I believe. Put them closer to the line and the cushion should overall decrease. However, this new problem is does not seem to consistently happen but when it does gives a much bigger cushion then ever before.

Probably. If he's on -100 or close to it.

The giveaway is that, not only is the cushion enormous, but he doesn't ever attempt to close it down. It's not like the WR is losing him on cuts, in fact that's a straight line route. The dot starts with a large gap and never attempts to get any closer to his man, even once the ball is thrown.

You know, some of that is their level. Just don't have the vision and/or agility to respond fast and since they start so far away, it's compounded.

I have had the exact same problem last game. I also made a post about it but no one seems too concerned.

what I have never understood is when a receiver stops completely for 2-3 seconds, the coverage stands 4 yards away and never attempts to close the gap.

This is -90 coverage by CB
