Figured i would make a suggestions thread for this to keep it in one place, ideas are to make it more balanced for existing players to attempt to buy new adv eq and upgrade it without having to remake players:

1/ New special items should be 100% refundable:

I dont think anyones done the math on this.. to fully grade all 4 items of eq at level 32 will cost 160 tokens or 400 days of training! so 10 seasons! by which point youll be level 60 ish and eq still wont be as good as basic level 60 eq..

So scrap that lets do 1 item.. takes 100 days to get to same upgrade point as current item, but by that point you would be about level 43 so well into then next upgrade point where the basic eq is pretty similar effectiveness.. so another 25 days to get it over the brink. This does NOT include normal training time to get the base item.
Or the fact that items you could then purchase would be 2x better!.. but due to being unable to carry over more than 10 bonus points you stuck with your lvl 32 base item..

Having the ability to refund all bonus tokens will mean a level 1 can upgrade new eq at lvl 8/16 etc without being stuck with a pretty poor item. Or wasting about 400 days of their life

2/ Bonus tokens should be backdated for current players based on creation date (extra for boosted players)

Well as i figure it you cross an upgrade lvl (or gain 8 levels) about every 3 seasons give or take.. NO boosting (see note at bottom on that)

So to upgrade all 4 items of new eq over 120 days means you need 40 tokens .. so 1 token every 3 days.. currently can get 1 every 2.5.. which seems about right

Refunding 100% of tokens will help, but i suggest you grant bonus tokens to current vets, based on the above... 1 token for every 3 season days of creation.. thus a level 22 created about season 1 day 20 would get 33 tokens.. thus 3 eq upgrades.

Boosting players shouldnt penalised, at the least they should be awarded. Every time you boost you gain extra bonus tokens. Worked out as about 15 days = 1 boost (which is approx time takes a level 30 to gain 1 level), so 3 tokens per boost. So a player created on season 1 day 20, who has boosted 3x each season for last 3 seasons will gain 60 bonus tokens.. but will be about level 32 now so would need more tokens.

^^Numbers ive quoted are roughly based on the idea of having a full set of fully upgraded eq by about 9-10th season of play (if you 95% train intense.. boosters would have a harder time tho so may never achieve fully upgraded set until about 13th season ish

3/ Add an EQ marketplace for selling off old eq when upgrading

As a replacement to item 1/.. instead of getting back 100% of bonus tokens you could add a new page to the Marketplace were players can sell off old eq, max price would be orginal cost in both cash and bonus tokens.. but players can lower this to get faster sale or if they bought the wrong item etc.

ie. My DT makes a +2 STR, 2% Tackling item.. upgrades it 2x at 20 bonus tokens cost adding +2 Agility (say this all costs about 200k).. could then try and resell it for 18 tokens and 100k.. as Bort says eq already has level limits so could only sell it to players of certain levels.. and could be bought by a DE or LB or whatever

Thanks for compiling this

There was also a suggestion about combining adv gear with similar normal gear with some sort of "crafting" system, so if anybody has something to add on that, I'm all ears.

Interesting idea.. ill consider it..

Few other ideas:

4/ A team shop, for players old eq

Kind of along similar lines to 3/ but were the team refunds all bonus points but NO cash, it can then be resold to team members only for full bonus points and an "admin charge" of say 50% of total eq value. Basically allowing players to trade items within a team but at a cash cost to the player both selling and buying the item.

5/ Eq wear and tear

Well to try to encourage players to replace old eq when the cross certain boundary points and to keep the eq marketplace fluid, eq could be given a condition value 0-100.. and have a repair cost involved in fix'ing the eq to 100 again. Basically have it so a condition 50 item give 50% of useful stats. Similarly when sold in poor condition the max cash you can sell it for should reflect its condition.

As Bort has stated Adv eq has a minimum level requirement to wear, so based on this level the further a player gets away from it the faster the eq deteriorates.
ie.. at level 8 your eq drops by 5% after a game (eq lvl 6), the same eq at level 20 would drop at 20% after each game.

End result would be idle players or players off for a week or 2 would end up with tattered worn old eq which is no longer performing as it did before. Also players would be trading in older items of eq for newer upgrades more regularly (say every 10 levels) rather than get 1 nice rare item and sitting on it for eternity.

how about when you sell back your old equipment.. you have the option of either selling it back for xx % cash, or for xx % upgrade on your new equipment.

of course, in my opinion, this is only useful if you can pick which attribute you are about to add to your new equipment

As for #2, the items that show up in the store vary by your player level. So, I don't think Bort needs to "backdate" bonus tokens, esp. since we're leveling slower at the higher levels.

So as a level 32, you should see some +5 items I would guess, whereas at a lvl 1, you will probably only see +1 type items. (Bort, correct me if I am wrong here)

Then, to upgrade this item, it takes 25 days (not 100, which I understand was as if you bought a level 1 item).

Personally, I think there should just be a separate item you can wear (your advanced item) on top of your normal items. And if you wanted, you could play with the idea of "crafting" an advanced item through combining certain purchases.

And I do agree that for the short-term, selling back OLD OR NEW equipment should be a 100% refund of cash while we all figure out what kinds of items we'll actually find in the store.

Nope, the only piece I've purchased so far was a pair of +2 pancake cleats for my FB. No buyers remorse there.

Level 32s are seeing +3 items really ive yet to see anyone post about +5s yes the skill tree bonus's can may well make them better than a +5 item but not by much.. anyways my post is mainly about upgrading these.. item to make them better than existing basic eq

Yes 25 days per upgrade per item.. these items are ment to be better than basic eq, so to turn your +3 str adv visor into a +7 (lv32) visor will take 100 days of intense training all to gain +2 str..

At the high levels, if strength is something you are using equipment on, that +2 strength is probably more of a +8 or +10SP cost you are saving...for some its even more.

I've also seen one +4 to an attribute at lvl 32 and the +2 pancake was on a lvl 21.

not sure if its considered buyers remorse.. when you bought the equipment while it was the only type of equipment available.. and then later, someone changes the rules and the game to give another option that competes with the first.
i can see how alot of people can feel they were screwed, especially at higher levels.

Yeah, as a Test I just purchased som 'Advanced' Eyeblack. was only 600 bucks so I figured it was a good test. It had on it +1 Strength.

So, Purchased it.

Then I went to check out the equipment. It is essentially the same as a level 1 basic purchase. Cost 100$ more and it is NOT upgradeable unless I use the special equipment upgrades. That means for it to ever be worth something, as previously mentioned, I will have to spend a metric asstonne of points that will take more seasons then I have remaining just to make it worth the same as the basic equipment I have been upgrading.

This makes _zero_ sense.

When we purchase advanced equipment it should basically be considered a standard piece of equipment, meaning that it starts as 'basic' equipment that costs a bit more and has a bonus.

So, this eye black should have cost say 1500$ and had +1 strength and was equivalent to 'Level 1 Equipment'. Once it is in my possession I can then upgrade it by purchasing the standard Level 1 atrtribute bonus. This makes it actually superior to the standard Level 1 equipment, justifying its cost. Then, if my player is high enough I can upgrade to the Lvl 8, Level 16, Level 24 and Level 32 equipment by spending the cost I would normally spend to upgrade this. This adds _basic_ stats only, just like normal equipment.

Then when I earn enough bonus tokens I can _enhance_ that equipment, either adding a couple attribute points (that makes it worthwhile, if one bonus upgrade to the equipment provides say +2 attribute points) or a special ability, such as a bonus to a SA, or some of these various percentage bonus to footboall skills/actions etc.

As it is now. The Special 'Enhanced' Equipment is not as good as standard equipment and a high level player purchasing it ends up with worse stuff than they had before.

Recap:

All special equipment is considered 'Level 1 Equipment' with an additional random bonus. When purchased, player can spend an additional 500$ on it and add +1 to an attibuted.

If the player is of appropriate level, they can add +1 to an attribute for Level 8, Level 16 Level 24, Level 32 ETC bringing the equipment in line with 'standard' equipment' with just a small enhancement.

As the player earns bonus tokens they can _further_ upgrade the equipment with additional bonuses to their attributes (+2 to attributes in any combination for one bonus purchase) or to their SA's/Football Skills etc. (Bonus to be determined.. say one SA level or 2-3% to a skill like Deflections, Chance to cause fumble, etc)

I would be all for "crafting" or having the advanced equipment be something like a necklace (or something that is not a t-shirt, shoes, etc) so that you can have both equipped at the same time. I bought a +2% chance of catching for my WR but in order to equip it, I would have to lose 4 speed. At lvl 29, I'm not sure that giving up the speed is worth it.
Like I said, either make it so that the advanced equipment is something unrelated or just have the +2% catching as an addition to the T-shirt I already have.
