How I would make Advanced Equipment work tobring more in line with current state of things and encourage people to use it.

Adding attributes to it is handled just like 'normal' equipment.

UPGRADING the bonuses already on the equipment, costs bonus tokens and a cash value based on the bonus you are increasing and its present level (scaling appropriately)

So I buy a $50,000 peice of equipment with +2 Catching and +1 Power Through SA I can add attributes to it immediately if I have the cash, upgrading it like a normal piece of equipment.

But if I want to add to its power through SA that costs 8+ bonus tokens. (maybe a return to the 10 tokens from originally) and might cost me another $50,000 bucks justt o make it +2 Power Through and then $200,000 to make it +3 and $800,000 to make +4 etc (monetary costs in addition to bonus tokens....

Because 8 bonus tokens is still too expensive just to add a normal attribute point when it will take many players 40 bonus tokens more than a single season worth of training) to get the equipment back to the attribute bonuses they had previous with 'normal' equipment.

Would you lose out on the +SA's if you did that?

I dunno. In my own opinion that would be a fair tradeoff. Being able to buy 'normal' stat bonuses as if it were normal equipment, would certainly equal out no being able to increase the percentages/SA's in my opinion.

Then Again, being able to increase he SA as you do in the present system (costs 16 bonus tokens) seems like a high price to pay already to increase the SA, so think as well the two could work in conjunction.

If though, you said I'll let you add attributes to it like it was normal equipment, EG no bonus tokens, just go pay the cash, but you wont be able to raise the SA, that would be totally worth it to me. I could buy a piece of advanced equipment and almost immediately make it as good or better than my normal equipment it was replacing. Not buy an item, wait a couple season, and now it is better. Which is really bad if you want multiple advanced equipment.

PS - Since you're looking. Can you maybe consider these two threads

Just thought I'd let you people know that I just wasted about 19 shopping tokens between 3 players and 75% of the items that popped up were complete garbage and had nothing to do with my players at their position and I only bought one item cause that item at least made some sense. Can we please fix the store and have it give items that have something to do with the position. I don't need break tackle % for my O-Lineman just in case you were wondering. Days of not training on intense to find equipment went to waste for nothing. Thanks

here's my frustration with the new adv. equipment stuff. i have been here since season 1 and when the new equipment stuff hit the game, my players were all in the 30s. there should be some kind of retroactive Bonus Token allotment GIVEN to the veterans. I would do it based on level something like this.

If you are this level then you get an automatic bonus of:
lvl 1-8: 0 bonus tokens
lvl 9-16: 4
lvl 17-24: 8
lvl 25-32: 12
lvl 32+: 16

This would let players upgrade their new items in a more timely fashion to reflect the amount of time they have already been in GLB (not to mention rewarding people who have spent enough in FPs to keep this game going). This is a one time bonus and it would also encourage people to buy the new items. At maximum, this would give level 32+ people an automatic 2 upgrades and still lets them spend the next season or so to upgrade the rest of the way, so maximum stat whoring wouldn't be immediate.

Plus a one time automatic shopping token bonus would be nice too. something like this based on levels:

1-8: 0 shopping tokens
9-16: 1
17-24: 2
25-32: 3
32+: 3

this of course is minus the actual training bonuses, just a couple tries at the new equipment.

there's my 2.5 cents on the matter. i didnt read this whole thread, but something like this may have already been suggested.

X2

Advanced equipment that is available should have something to do with your position. Maybe you don't always have the best stuff available to you, but it should at least be relevant. Huge waste of training tokens that seem difficult to accumulate as it is.

+100 this is very well thought out and would work well. I hope this is implemented this off season.

I was worried about shopping with my players. I trained exclusively on intense until last week when I decided to start rolling for advanced equipment since my guys were getting high enough to roll some decent stuff.

While I did get my share of junk, most of them have a good piece already and they are back training intense to upgrade the items. Only 2 of my players are still in the rolling stage, My QB and my CB.

To be real I was going to wait until Bort changed the way equipment is distributed through a roll so it was more specific to my position, and I could prevent blowing rolls on crap. However, I also thought if he changed it to be specific to your position, he would also have to lower the % of the real good stuff dropping or shopping would be a joke. Right now it's a crap shoot and that's part of the fun really.

There has to be some kind of incentive for the shopper that goes out of his way for the best piece possible. That's part of the problem, most of the shopping holdouts want to shop once and get the best possible piece and then never shop again.

As for upgrading for the veteran, I'm not sure this would even work. I could see maybe the equipment upgrading automatically to your level, that could be doable, but I can't see a retroactive bonus working.

See.. I still think having to use bonus tokens to update the basic attributes on the Advanced Equipment is silly. Even with getting a host of tokens from your previous seasons, it takes 16 tokens to add +2 to the basic attributes. So level 32+ will only get to add +2 to a SINGLE advanced Equipment item. NMeaning it will still suck compared to the +5 they can get from a basic item. Add to this they can create multiple basic items as long as their team has the money and create multiple different attribute sets for different games.

If we instead make it so that when you buy advanced equipment (as normal in present system) as soon as it is purchased you can then go 'upgrade' the equipment adding a number of +1's to stats just like the present system... the Advanced Equipment would actually be worth its higher cost.

Then, allow us to upgrade the 'special' bonuses on the Advanced equipment at a cost of Bonus tokens. Use the present system for this as well, so right now if you spend 16 bonus tokens, you can up a SA on an advanced equipment by +1.

There would be no need then to hand out retroactive bonus tokens, when players find a peice of advaned equipment they could actually USE it right away, rather than being worse with it on than their old equipment with basic bonuses.

Or you could just buy the ADEQ piece, keep your old one and wear it as you are building it up. I do think the new equipment bit does favor newbies a little too much.

All I think needs to be improved are the roll tables a little bit.

NO. I don't think it should be easier to get position appropriate gear. I think that higher level players should have an easier time getting equipment with +2, +3, +4 attributes THAT ALSO HAS +SAs or +%s. Then noobs would need to keep rebuying AEQ as they level up as veterans should only need to buy equipment once at 24 or 32 and then maybe at 40 or 48.

So, you think it is reasonable to take 2 full seasons to raise a single peice of advanced equipment to match the basic equipment stats at level 32+?

Feel free to waste training for shopping tokens over and over until you get something even close to your player's position needs. It's fukn retarded some of the stuff that keeps coming up for my players. In the meantime, you can use intense training to actually get something worthwhile...
