What are the factors that go into this? Pass Quality for the QB and Catching, Vision, and Confidence for the reciever?

Any idea what the priorities would be, in terms of attributes, to make this happen?

My guess:

1. Throwing of QB
2. Vision of QB
3. Confidence of QB, if being hurried
4. Vision of WR
5. Agility of WR
6. Catching of WR

Obviously Speed matters for getting open, but we have to assume that the WR has a clean path in front of him, so speed becomes relative to what you are asking. I have never seen a faster receiver catch balls in stride at a higher rate. If anything I've seen them slow down to make a catch more often.

Jumping counts on the WR

Yeah, I am assuming the receiver is in the clear.

Its interesting you put catching so low. I was speculating:

1. Throwing
2. Confidence of QB
3. Catching
4. Confidence of WR
5. Vision of WR
6. Vision of QB

I cant imagine "jumping in stride" but you never know. GLB..where anything happens

Catching is important, but I think it is more of a threshold thing. Either you catch the pass or you don't. The throw and WR position is more important imo.

Also vision effects pathing greatly. I wouldn't underrate that on the WR.

Pass quality + coverage + WR's ability to catch and tuck ball quickly

That is pretty much what I am getting at. Does high catching make the player less prone to stopping and juggling?

i believe so, which is why you see HBs with low catching always juggling.

carry helps this out too, i believe.

Juggling, probably yes. From the data I've seen stopping is a factor of the ball's vector compared to the WR's vector. That is also where jumping comes in.

I have heard others mention carrying also. It seems counter-intuitive, but with GLB, you never know.

Okay, well that lends alot of credence to the pass quality components being more important.

QB strength needs to be in there. Pass quality degrades as the pass goes longer (fact), and I feel that it's a steep decline with weaker QBs (speculation). And considering the prevailing QB builds...I have a feeling it's pretty common.
