Ok, with all the recent cheating/gutting stuff going on, this was brought to my attention and I think it's a great idea.
I know there's an unofficial GLB Owner's Association (and a Player's Association) that has been floating around the forum. I also know that some players would like the organization to be more involved.
My suggestion, and I would love some feedback on it, would be to officially recognize these groups and give them some power to decide what happens in the game.
The authority granted to the group could include:
- Levy fines against a particular team for cheating or doing something unethical
- Force reversal of an unfair trade
- Make decisions regarding contract disputes
- Etc.
All actions would have to go through an admin, but we'd probably just go with what the commission decides generally.
All team owners would have to accept the rules of the association, which would be presented in brief when buying a team.
I would think election of some sort of "commissioners" would be needed to keep the group organized. The commissioners could have some mod powers, etc, and they would get titles on the forum so you know who they are. We could even reward them for their service with FP if the job is demanding.
At first, I'm thinking this would just consist of a forum for dispute discussion, and decisions would have to be PMed to me or DD to take care of. What I envision, however, is eventually adding some tools for members to vote on propositions, submit actions, and review cases, assuming the association works out ok.
It seems that something like this would help the players of the game govern themselves in a pretty fair manner, as long as admins have the ultimate say to make sure there isn't something completely ridiculous decided on.
Thought and suggestions are welcome! We want to move forward and keep the wheels of progress turning.
