I'm curious about this "players union" and would be interested in helping out with it.

I like the idea, although I think at some point you may need to find a "commissioner" or "board of directors": people who are willing to help mediate disputes who don't own a player or a team so they don't have ANY conflict of interests.

That's why everything would have to go through the admins at some level - so we can weed out the decisions that are obviously biased.

True. I was just thinking in terms of the time you'd have to commit as the game grows. It even goes back to the discussion of reviewing trades in other threads.

Ideally, if you have people you trust, you and the other admins could just focus on the technical aspects of the game.

This sounds fantastic.
With the enormous and rapid growth of the game this would certainly help out the guys running the show.

I like the idea but my main concern/worry is power trips... there needs to be some clear cut regulations/rules/philosophies that the groups go by and these regulations/rules need to be laid out for everyone to see so a player or owner can not be blindsided with a rule that 3 or 4 people decide to just create out of thin air because they don't like something.

This has to be in place, or there are seriuos Mob mentality issues that come into play.

I think there really needs to be a limit on teams and players for each member.

Hmm, I think somehow is feeling the hot breath of the mob bearing down on him.

I think you guys should seriously weed through and find some top of the line "Admins" or slightly below admins to help run the more legal issues involved in the games such as one that is at the top of the players union and at the top of the owners union. As this game grows the amount of time for you (Bort and DD) to actually review EVERY case would be difficult. Just IMHO, I think you should put some other people in charge of carrying out those tasks.

Good idea...if managed right. If not, could lead to more corruption.

That would definitely take place, especially after we add some tools to deal with management of the association issues.

Fines would be good as long as it just goes away. Anything major should turn more into taking control of the team away from the person.

And be very careful of defining "unfair" trades. I've played enough Fantasy Football to see how quickly trade fairness arguments can go south.

If yall need some mediators, I can be one, I am very active and I am not in either one so I am unbiased and I usually am a mediator in real life.

You could simply take active players that are willing and mature/intelligent people and have them commish over certain leagues.

If they actually play the game, like have a team or players just pass a rule that they cannot have any type of conflict of interest. Simply don't allow them to commish over leagues they have players or teams in.

Eventually this will grow beyond the admins control, at the rate it's going now. The good thing is, you could probably find level headed players who would be willing to commish leagues and settle disputes (do work) for free.

The problem I see with getting together a entire organization of people to govern themselves is that every Joe Shmoe will be talking over the other and nothing will get done. You don't want a bureaucracy when things happen so quickly.

Just my 2 or 3 cents.
