Screens do suck for some odd reason.

I'm betting it had to do with Bonn's run in the WL, when no matter what I did as a DC (and I'd stack like 7 guys on the screen) they'd still get 200+ yards in screens.

Everything that gets exploited when it's over powered gets nerfed in to uselessness.

It's jsut the lifecycle of this game.

The only thing that was nerfed that's still usable is ISLAM, and thats so strong that it's been around for centuries.

the only thing that had to do with Bonn was the change to Outside Blocker.

- Make short passes a little easier to complete, and long passes a little harder

What determines this the play call or the actual length of the pass? How long does a pass have to be to fall into the long pass category? Is it a set amount that triggers after a certain length? Does it get worse the longer the pass (i.e. is 25 yard pass tougher than a 20 yard pass assuming both are "long" passes?

I'm pretty sure that the completion rates of screen passes were determined to be a BUG. Bug testers ran games Catch asked them to, and HBs were catching screen passes at a noticeably lower rate than catching regular routes. I believe this change was a bugfix, which Bort has always said will occur whenever, not a "balancing" issue which shouldn't normally happen this late.

And what is the need to make long passes harder when you want to improve screens?

No, you don't get it.

It is an absolute travesty that pursuit calculations no longer use current vector only.

Whether it is or is not.....the big deal is we voted on this....WHY did we vote on it and get told it wouldnt happen and then Poof! it happens. If I see a sim for 11 games....I want it to be the same sim the rest of the season.

I couldn't agree more with this....and am a bit disappointed that the only part of that entire update that was tested was the punting portion. Hell, I didn't even know any of this happened until AFTER 2 games had already simmed, if you include the tourney game. Not only is changing the sim this late in ssn screwed up, NOT making it an announcement also hurts

Edit: the only part tested on the test server was punt coverage is what I should have said....I'd guess that the rest was tested by Bort and Catch

This one together with extend plateau joke that is still going on, showed me that they learned nothing and never will and that I wasted a lot of time and money here. Not so bad about the money, i had some fun for thousands of $ for 2 years, but what makes me really angry is the time I wasted , thats something I will never get back

Well, I'm not going to dig out every single game for every single issue, but really just look for yourself:

2279: 203-160 ken-in-rockwall - CB # 181 - Game #4 - 06/24/10 @ 3:46pm

(player summary)

2251: 112-133 Shart - TEST REQUEST - CB Pursuit #181 - GAME # 3 -- 06/19/10 12:49 PM Central Time
(player summary)

2250: 237-238 Shart - TEST REQUEST - CB Pursuit #181 - GAME # 2 -- 06/19/10 12:06 PM Central Time

2249: 105-104 Shart - TEST REQUEST - CB Pursuit #181 - GAME # 1 -- 06/19/10 10:20 AM Central Time

Those are all tests of the pursuit code changes. Everything you see on bug #170 is a test of the blocking changes, for example. Looks to me like most of the changes were tested.

Yeah I was surprised at the amount of testing that was being done when I looked yesterday.

That said I don't know what's up with the pass difficulty changes. After digging up the thread on screen passes:

http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=4098122&page=1#36756984

It looks like bugs testing decided this wasn't a bug, so that passing change is all Bort.

Per Testing Support, this is likely not a bug.

Catching needs to be higher for higher catch rates on screen passes.

Moving thread to likely not a bug forum.

The thing is, screens are very easy to catch, route receiving is very difficult. Although I see their logic that the rates will be higher, but the problems in screen passes isn't so much the HB, it is the QB makes terribad throws. There is where you will find the bug.
