After listening to a recent GLB radio show where Esen was helping a new player get started, it got me thinking of some ideas to help newbies get started and be less lost. User-friendly = good.

Item 1: I'm going to make it auto-PM offers to them from D league teams when they create their first player instead of just waiting for them to click contract offers.

Item 2: It's been suggested before, and I want to do it: PM a "getting started" guide to them. Needs to be concise enough to not scare them away, but explain enough of the basics to help them get started.

Anybody want to help out with #2? There could possibly be some FP's in it for you.

I could also use some suggestions for what confused you the most when you got started and how to help remedy that.

Thanks all!

That is a great idea.
I suppose I could help with a section - would get me a pre-start on english this semester!

If a few people wanted to work on it together, that would work too. I'm thinking a collection of all the most helpful tidbits in the Newbie forum, along with some links to certain threads and FAQ's, etc.

I'm sure there are people more qualified than I, but I am willing to pitch in.

I'd really like to contribute. Specifically, what's needed?

EDIT: I really don't care about the flex, I just want to help with the game.

Edit: Just for agents, didn't realize. Pretty basic advice would be to focus on stats instead of SAs, and to sign only 1 year contracts unless they trust an owner.

I'd love to help. We need to discuss what needs to be in the guide though. Some ideas:
Discuss what each attribute does in detail. ie. Strength is how strong your character is. It helps you do such and such on the field. It is very helpful for such positions.
Discuss contracts. Let players know there is no way out of extended contracts so to be wary of them.
Discuss how building works. Not details of builds, but let players know that after so many points into a single attribute or SA that it increases.
Discuss things that will effect their player. Such as Fame rating (when implemented) or any other major things that relate to their player.
Team owning procedure. Discuss how you go about owning and building a team, and try and persuade them NOT to buy one until your experienced.
That's all I got for now.

I don't remember exactly how it starts when you create an account. Does it automatically take you to create your first player or does it go to your user home page? If it goes to create a player right away, it should be changed to your home page with some kind of message to let them know to check their messages before creating a guy.

It gives you a short synopsis of what to do and takes you to "create a player" - and then it tells you to either use the marketplace or find a D-League team.

I wouldn't mind helping work on that if you need someone Bort.
