I know this is a ? that only Bort can answer (and it'd be damn nice if he did), but agents with older players really need to know. We've be used as lab rats enough and shouldn't have to screw our players even more by having to figure this one out.

Here's the rub. We all have a shit ton invested in the old EQ. I read talk about the possibility of getting a 100% cash payback on it, and that would be sort of nice I guess, but the $ is the least of it. By far the biggie is the 16-20 skill points it's worth.

Unless I'm missing something big, the choice is to scrap that and start over or keep pouring $ into it as the players hit 32 & 40. The question that we can't answer (and only Bort currently can) is if bending over and getting hosed out of the EQ points we already have is the right or wrong way. Since many of us are about to hit lvl 24 or 32, that really needs to be answered.

Side note, I'm FAR from thrilled that so much was put into this new training system, at the cost of ignoring HUGE flaws (leagues overflowing with gutted teams, the O AI being woefully lacking, no forum search option, pitful documentation (having to ask this ? is a perfect example...May have been answered somewhere or not, short of searching every thread, no way of knowing) and so on. Still, I think it could be decent (once more training combos are added), but it massively hoses older players. We shouldn't have to start over with the new EQ. We have already paid the dues and should be able to trade our existing EQ for new EQ that has the same # of skill point boosts as our current sets have. We earned it by building this game and our players and shouldn't be this drastically nerfed for having already invested so heavily in this game. Unless I'm missing something (and, if so, sorry for the rant), we're really getting kicked in the nuts for being here since the start.

Alright, time for the brown noses and new players to bash away now...I can live with that, so long as Bort gives a decent answer to whether the smart move is to scrap and start over or stick with the old (because the new isn't much better)

I agree with a lot of what you say and can answer none of your questions.

I think the old equipment is going to be quite good for a while still. You still have to buy all the new equipment but you can keeep all your equipment around and change as you wish. Then you also have to upgrade the new equipment which costs 10 bonus tokens so it will be a while to get it upgraded to the point of being able to replace your old equipment.

I strongly suspect it is. Especially when "rares" and Item Sets come in.

The only rub to getting rid of old equipment is that it can upgraded with just cash when you cross level threshholds. The advanced equip requires tokens. You advanced Equip may be better than individual level 16 equip, but will it be better than level 24 equip? Who knows?

Is there somewhere we can see what the new equipment has to offer?

I've been busy recruiting and haven't spent enough time on the new stuff yet. I'll be remedying that today...

It will help indiviualize the players.

I think it's one of the best things GLB has done to make the game more diverse (in theory, I need to see the actual application).

Obviously, but is it essentially worthless BY COMPARISON? In other words, how much better is the new EQ. If it's 2 times or more better, then the old EQ will become essentially worthless fast. Is it worth it to pour out $800,000 per player (and God knows how much at lvl 40)? The answer falls in how much better the new stuff is, and no player in this game knows the answer to that. Only Bort does. If he doesn't inform the players on this, either a ton of cash will be wasted or players will make a mistake of not upgrading the old stuff, when the smart move is to keep the old stuff upgrading until the new EQ catches up.

Wait, so people are complaining about a MMORPG actually having a RPG movement.

Interesting......

ummmmmmmmmm, if individualizing players is the goal, why does the current intense training system make it so that cookie cutters are the result?

Nice PP... so something that works the old way is still an option (which older players have always and still have as an advantage over the newer players) and something "better" comes out for everyone to use equally, we should complain?

The custom equipment will vary based on level, meaning the equip a level 16 sees will differ from the equip a level 32 sees.

The way I see it, the custom equipment is pretty point less to upgrade (costs the equivalent of 2.5 skill points to boost it 1 skill point), you'll have to replace it every 8 levels, and since loading is pretty much luck that could get cumbersome.

What would be cool is a place to sell/trade custom equipment, so if when my guy reaches 32, I can give my teammates my old eq to make the team better, or sell it to someone random to boost my players income.
