I know Bort has a priority list and, sometimes, the thing that's closest to being done takes priority over what may be a more pressing, but also more complex, issue, that deserves more than merely a band-aid solution.

What would be a second is that I do think this shouldn't have been a top priority.

I think the main problem is that there are a group of people that don't agree with Bort's list of priorities.

So it's essentially a matter of opinion...in that case, let's guive Bort the benefit of the doubt, huh?

I try to and most often do. As a friend said earlier, it's Bort's bat and ball and he can do what he wants with them. On the flip side, as much as I'd hate it sometimes, I'd want/need to know what the serious users thought, if I were in his place. In the earliest portions of this game, I think that feed back was huge in the success it has become. Unfortunately, the feedback does seem to be becoming less and less valued (I think the gutting thread reached over 500 pages and nothing of substance was done, and now there's a new gutting thread) but, in fairness, the forums have also turned into a zoo and there is constructive and purely negative feedback coming from all sides these days...Shame. All in all, I do think Bort has done a great job. Some things are just tough to deal with, is all.

PP - you are right. We've chatted about this, and there's no solution but to grin and take it. It's Bort's bat and ball, he can do whatever he wants.

I see alot of brownshirts in here. Folks - it's not fearing change, it's fearing bad ideas. Snap out of it.

I'm reading through this and many other pages trying to make heads and tails.

I'm for growth and change, and I'm curious to see whatever will be. I'm not hot on the mystery, randomness. If the game becomes a MMORPG/RPG that is simply football-themed, I'm out. I'm into the fantasy/arcade vs. realism/sim balance, but not into the direction I'm seeing. I acknowledge the AI additions may have been overwhelming to the RPG guys, but they were similarly overwhelming to everybody.

The difference, IMO, is that it pertained to actual football. Now, we can buy crazy fantasy shit, and nobody yet knows what it can do or how it affects us. The difference is that it simply increases entropy, rather than improvement. Persisting attributes of the game are affected retroactively.

Adding advanced gear won't make anyone more unique or different. It'll simply change what the min-maxers go for. A temporary patch on a permanent problem MMORPG's have had for decades

MMORPGs aren't decades old...

two decades, yes they are.

ANYWAY...the new gear can be better than the old gear once you upgrade it, but it can also be worse. It all depends on how you use it. You're not going to get a +5 or +6 item like you can at lv 32 or lv 40 through cash upgrades. You might be able to find a +3 when you're high enough level and then upgrade it over a couple seasons to +5. The new stuff is focused more on getting you +1 SA's or +%'s to do stuff than raw stats.

Quoted to remind me to add this to Cedo's thread shortly.
