It will help indiviualize the players.

I think it's one of the best things GLB has done to make the game more diverse (in theory, I need to see the actual application).

ummmmmmmmmm, if individualizing players is the goal, why does the current intense training system make it so that cookie cutters are the result?

ummmm, maybe because Intense training in RL usually only has a couple of results? Normal training will be far superior for your day to day use, due to the single Attribute focus and the ability to do other things. You'll need to mix in some Intense in order to get the Tokens for big games, but Intense is not the way to build a player...

Wait, so people are complaining about a MMORPG actually having a RPG movement.

Interesting......

MMORPGs have many elements to them. I'm not bitching about changes I haven't actually seen yet. All I was trying to say is that I'm hesitant. Maybe it will be awesome. I don't know I haven't seen it yet. The point I was trying to make is that what I have pictured in my head isn't an improvement for GLB IMO. Will what I have pictured come about I couldn't tell ya. I like GLB for its somewhat real football base and thats a direction I wish it to continue. Thats all.

Interesting. I had planned on using almost exclusively intense training...

I sure can't speak for everyone, but I think ppl are complaining because this WAS being built as a strategy FB game, in building players, managing teams and in game strategies. This offseason, the movement shifted to RPG. Guess what? The majority of the most active player base, those that have spent by far the most $$$$$$$$$ to build this game, have done it because they enjoyed the aspects that mirrored RL FB, not because they hoped to be able to buy the Helmet of Doom someday and be able to become invincible from the Maul Tkl to the Head EQ. Personally, I'd be much more happy about it IF the major problems that this game current does have had been dealt with 1st.

I wasn't trying to trash you in that, and appologize if that's how it came across. I was merely pointing out that, if diverse player builds was Bort's goal, I think he took one step forward and one back

no, the old equipment will still be there... you choose which you want to use by selecting it in the slot (like you do now if you have more than one piece of equipment).

Obviously, but is it essentially worthless BY COMPARISON? In other words, how much better is the new EQ. If it's 2 times or more better, then the old EQ will become essentially worthless fast. Is it worth it to pour out $800,000 per player (and God knows how much at lvl 40)? The answer falls in how much better the new stuff is, and no player in this game knows the answer to that. Only Bort does. If he doesn't inform the players on this, either a ton of cash will be wasted or players will make a mistake of not upgrading the old stuff, when the smart move is to keep the old stuff upgrading until the new EQ catches up.

I would say that it would indeed benefit to pay for the old gear. This is based only on the thought that it will take quite some time to upgrade all the new gear to be >/= the old gear. since it takes 10 bonus tokens to upgrade the new gear, and you only get 1 token for each time you train on intense. I think the old EQ is going to be around for quite some time. Sure as the "rare" and "set" items hit the market you may see some old equipment falling to the way side but I do see the old Equipment being valuable especially to older players for a couple seasons yet.

I have been a part of many many RPGs over the years, and whenever something new comes out it always takes a little bit of time to get it dialed in and balanced properly. I see the same thing happening here. It may very well be true that the new equipment will be a little under powered compared to the old equipment. Next season it may swing the other way a little bit. Eventually it will become balanced and thus a choice for the player how they wish to create their player. In my mind this change/idea is REALLY great. It is going to allow people to individualize their players more and also allow teams to more easily create a cohesive base of what they wish to strive for. Maybe it is just my RPG roots, that I really love equipment and finding the coolest hottest thing (Diablo anyone?).

I understand the hesitation of the football community. Many people that play this game have never even picked up an RPG, and thus this element adds a little bit of skepticism.

I suppose ultimately we just need to be patient and see how it plays out. We really don't have any idea of what it is going to look like once it gets dialed in.

I'm complaining that there isn't enough info about it, first and foremost. I'd rather not screw my players even more than they have been by the changing builds (we want diversity, oh, crap, your diversity is too good, we need to make them suck so the cookie cutters thrive).

If I do have another complaint it is that far more serious issues faced this game than this, IMO. I can live with the new system, but think the priorities are messed up in that the bleeding should have been stopped before we all went to the mall on a shopping spree.

I do also believe that the players that have paid for all of these servers should not have to start over, just because we aren't entering the game late. I'd consider that more of an opinion than a complaint, myself
