Do you think the extra 4 VP's are worth a level or two?

Probably not, but it makes boosting early a lot less harmful to your player than before.

No, but it would get the ball rolling on Vet experience sooner. Im not saying it would be smart, I just want someone else to figure it out for sure then tell me so I dont have to.

A lot less? How fucking stupid are you? VA is like the worthless percentages on AE. Theres a reason you dont want the percentages.

I already did the math.

Weigh 4 VPs against a level.

Sorry, *less harmful than before.

And apparently pretty fucking stupid, since I forgot to proofread my post knowing badass officer aj58078 was patrolling the forums.

What? You don't want a 15% boost to your base speed? If your base speed is 68 you would really be playing with 78 speed before EQ. How stupid are you?

I would not boost early though.

I already did the math.

Weigh 4 VPs against a level.

4 VPs = 4% boost to highest attribute = 2-3 attribute points depending on level = 4-9 SPs depending on cap

So, yes, 4 VPs could very well be worth more than a level (and you don't lose a level boosting early at 22).

Well my WR (level 21) has 70.63 base speed. so lets figure by the end of the season (when you'll feel the level lost due to boosting early) he'll be at least 71 due to natural point gains through leveling.

Your extra xp level (if you didn't boost early) would give you 5 SPs.. it costs 4 to increase speed by 1 pt to bring it to 72. (you'd be left with one SP which of course, you can use elsewhere)

If you boost early and put the extra 4 VPs into track star, you would gain 4% of your base 71. =2.84

Of course, this assumes you are trying to improve your speed.

In this example it sounds like it makes sense to boost early. But then if you take into account that there is a ceiling to the track star VA and no ceiling on the Speed attribute you can argue that you'd be better off boosting late and throwing the extra SP into speed since VA will get finished off eventually anyway.

But then you can also argue that boosting early sounds appealing this way and you will probably also gain more fame this way since you can assume your on field play will be better for most of the season having been boosted.

Looking at just this one example the question the OP brought up actually seems more complicated than I had originally thought.

Personally, I'm thinking it will always be more beneficial to boost early at 22 to start getting VPs.

it costs about 400 xp to boost a level 22 on day 0 as opposed to day 32.

i stole this from one of my team forums:

IN the past I would say wait but now you have some things to think about.

would suggest you have all your lvl 22/23/24 players boost immediately to lvl 25 (if you haven't already suggested this to them). Getting the Veteran Points building for entire season is going to be much more important then any loss of xp through early boosting. The math has been done by another player, it's a nobrainer. You should also recommend that any player who hits 22 immediately boost to 25 if in season.

Here's the breakdown: (it assumes you earn max exp every game this season)

At level 22., saving your boosts until day 32 will earn you 3345 exp and 1000 vet xp this season.
If you boost to 25 right away, you will earn 2934 exp this season and 5000 veteran xp this season
costing you 411 exp and earning you 4000 more veteran exp or 4 more veteran points.

At level 23. saving your boosts until day 32 will earn you 3230 exp and 2250 vet xp this season.
If you boost to 25 right away, you will earn 2934 exp and 5000 vet xp this season
costing you 296 exp and earning you 2750 more vet xp or 2.75 more veteran points

At level 24., saving your boosts until day 32 will earn you 3069 exp and 3500 vet xp this season.
If you boost to 25 right away, you will earn 2934 exp and 5000 vet xp this season
costing you 135 exp and earning you 1500 more vet exp

So looking at this, it becomes obvious that boosting to 25 at the start of the season essentially gets you more veteran experience at the expense of regular experience at a rate of 10 to 1.
