I can run that setup for our next game.

Bort said a long time ago that speed was max speed, and agility was acceleration. He later went on to tweak agility so it affected acceleration more. If you had a 50 spd / 100 agi guy, you'd accelerate to your max potential quickly, as opposed to 100 sp / 50 agi where it would take a little longer.

Both are extreme examples, but I think you get the point.

So if speed didn't affect acceleration before, only agility, how could he have tweaked it so that agility affected it "more"? Even having said what he said, it's still quite possible that your max speed affects your acceleration in some way.

For example, 50sp/50 Agi vs 100sp/50 agi: Do they both reach the "50 speed" mark in the same amount of time, and then the 100 sp dot keeps getting faster after that, or does the 100 sp dot get to 50 speed faster?

If it *is* pure agility, then can we start making acceleration charts? ie 20 agi = 3 ft per tick^2 or whatever (although maybe acceleration isn't liner, either - humans don't actually accelerate linearly, but who knows how dots move)

Yes, speed is max speed. Speed and agility affect acceleration, however, Bort modified agility to matter more in acceleration a few seasons back.

Good OP.

I would be interested if you ran the perl script on players who were using Big Heart last season and had attributes in the 140s. (Hulk's HB (?), for example), to see what insanely high attributes (especially Speed) bring to the table.

If it's really that acceleration is pure agility, then it's the crazy agility that's making him move like that; or at least making him able to start touching the 100+ speeds. Don't forget that Big Heart and Scat Back are both giving bonuses to Agility too.

You know, this really got me thinking and has led me to try some different things.

Or slow down to catch the ball because it's not led far enough or poorly thrown.

First Step only activates from a dead stop. Or is the tool tip wrong?

Yes, it's from a dead stop or close to it (there's a little leeway for having a very tiny movement vector). I'm referring to the fact that that SPEED SPEED SPEED doesn't necessarily give you as much when your QB can't lead you properly, or you have to slow down to make cuts. While you're waiting for the ball to get there, the defender has a chance to catch up.

Bort, does higher catching or confidence lead to a QB to look your WR's way more times?

It can; if you're better than your defender you tend to get more looks.

Yea but lets say you have 2 WRs that are getting about equal seperation and one has higher confidence and catching, is the QB going to look his way first because of the higher catching or confidence? I am wondering if catching or confidence kind of works like go to guy, the WR with the highest of it will get the first look.

It seems a LB, SS, or FS, considering he has high enough vision, would still benefit from heavy speed as he usually doesn't have to do as many cuts as an offensive player. They usually pick a line and run to it. Is there something I'm not thinking of?
