GLB's Top Pro Teams

Season 10, 1st Edition.

This is the start of the fifth season of the "GLB's Top Pro Teams" weekly rankings. As is always the case, we've welcomed in a few new voters and said goodbye to a handful that could no longer contribute. Last season was the first in which we managed to publish all 5 editions without missing a week and our voter turnout was the highest it has ever been. Another thanks to the forum members who took part last season for their time and the effort they put in to pour over all of the Pro league info we try to keep track of.

This season:
We have added a "Bubble 7" to the end of our weekly ballots to expand the voting a bit, to dig a little deeper, and to help us better recognize the handful of teams that just miss our Top 25. In the final version each week, a cumulative Bubble 7 will be posted to bring our number of ranked teams to a GLB-friendly, 32. We will again be including some info from the automated rankings that NiborRis and Lukin have been producing and improving since last season.

Release schedule:
We are planning again for five editions. The first three will be completed and published late night on the first three Mondays of the season (barring set-backs), the fourth will be the end of the regular season edition, and the fifth will be the Season 10 Final edition.

This edition:
We had 33 voters submit votes - their Top25's plus 7 bubble teams. Votes were tallied and points awarded per vote, #1 vote = 25 pts, #2 = 24, etc. Bubble votes were awarded 0.5 points each. The best possible score was 825. Listed after each team is their record with games against gutted teams removed and tournament games versus other pro teams added. NiborRis' Colley-Matrix rank, Lukin's Automated Ranking System rank, and NiborRis' RPI SOS rank follow.

This point in the season:
We are now five games into the regular season for the Pro leagues. Santiago has successfully defended the Pro Traveling Trophy once already and is planning for their second defense of Season 10. The PWT Group Round is winding down (get ready for the Bracket Challenge coming soon!), the Hazy/Addicts tourney is well into the second round, as is the Coca-Cola, and the TOC is just revving up. We've got ~175 major tourney games already in the books.

rank . team ... points , 1st place votes ... ( record ) ... Colley-Matrix rank .... LARS rank .... RPI SOS rank

1 . Santiago Benitos (SAPL) … 813.0 , 24 … ( 8 - 0 ) … Colley = 9 … LARS = 3 … SOS = 64 << Pro Traveling Trophy >>

boomer82 - Keep on keeping on
Nuge20 - The class of SLAP
Voltron - Undefeated and dominating everyone they play even loldrinkin
Rodion - picks 1, 2 and 3 are really close, but crushing Drinkin like the Benitos did will earn them the top spot over Cincinatti and Krazy
Paraboon - Impressive wins over Machu, Drinkin, and Sahara put Havoc and Crew in the top 3.
Gmathiasf - Book them in the League Championship game already. Might spend a lot of time at the top of rankings this season.
joemiken - Crushing Drinkin for the Pro trophy was impressive
NiborRis - A lot of teams may get to take a shot at them this season, thanks to the Pro Traveling Trophy.
lukin83 - Number 1 until proven otherwise
tycoon34 - Whatever you look at to rank teams, Santiago tops that criteria. As usual, however, they aren't storming in season 10 with a ton of scrims.

2 . Cincinnati Shockers (USAPL) … 739.0 , 3 … ( 7 - 0 ) … Colley = 6 … LARS = 6 … SOS = 33

boomer82 - CINCY SMASH!
Nuge20 - Handled their business so far this season
Rodion - great performance so far, but I expected them to beat the Huskies with a little more ease
Gmathiasf - This year Cincy will come away with Hazy's, the PWT, or USA East. Someone write that down.
joemiken - Big win over Jersey today may be their best win so far this season.
NiborRis - looked very strong but have had a mostly cupcake schedule, even in USAPRO
lukin83 - They haven't faced anyone spectacular yet, but they are winning in convincing fashion
tycoon34 - Like OFG, the Shockers haven't had the challenges yet interleague to boost them to #1. But you can't argue with an undefeated USAPL record at any point in the season.

3 . ***Official*** Footballguys (USAPL) … 731.0 , 0 … ( 7 - 0 ) … Colley = 2 … LARS = 17 … SOS = 21

boomer82 - Keeping the championship pace Duff set for them
Nuge20 - Great start, probably one of the most talented teams.
Voltron - Defending USAPro champs
Rodion - they keep winning - don't like those asterisks on their name, though
Paraboon - 13 points given up in 2 Tournament Games combined vs 2 very good teams.
Gmathiasf - Best way to deal with the Big Heart nerf? Just be in the lead all game every game.
joemiken - Had some close calls against Jersey & Washington, but they've dropped 55+ on Lafayette and BFM and are still the defending USA champs.
lukin83 - Picked up where they left off in Season 9
tycoon34 - the defending USAPL champs don't have the scrim record yet to show it, but they have the track record and an 5-0 record in USAPL to prove they are a top team.

4 . Krazy Monkeys (SAPL) … 729.0 , 5 … ( 7 - 0 ) … Colley = 7 … LARS = 32 … SOS = 81

boomer82 - Last year's SLAP champion looks even better.
Nuge20 - Solid team, only other srs contender in SLAP imo
tycoon34 - the defending SAPL champs (who got no love in last season's rankings) have blown through their league and scrimmage games. They are smelling revenge.
Rodion - impressive team with impressive wins, their schedule will get really interesting now
Paraboon - The defending SAPL champs have started out on fire not giving up more than 23 points in a game yet.
Gmathiasf - I know I'll be one of the select few to put KM #1, but I think they've been the most dominant against some solid competition. 100+ on NWAN, 30+ on PDB, Yokels, KKAR. Big match ups with APL looming.
joemiken - They've massacred just about everyone they've faced this season.
NiborRis - they usually finish very strong. This season they're stating very strong - could be a bad sign for everyone they face.
lukin83 - Consistently overrated in a weak conference, but also consistently good

5 . Doinitin Djibouti (APL) … 639.0 , 0 … ( 10 - 0 ) … Colley = 1 … LARS = 1 … SOS = 7

boomer82 - Fantastic win over Marblehead
Nuge20 - Great start to the season, Tea Baggins is the GOAT
tycoon34 - In arguably the hardest group in the PWT, DD is 3-0 right now with very convincing wins. Sure this team doesn't play the toughest competition, but we can't ignore APL anymore.
Voltron - Undefeated and win over Marblehead puts them in top 5 for now
Rodion - undefeated and beat Marblehead - worthy of the top 5
Paraboon - Maybe overrating my team a little bit, but I feel confident in this ranking due to our performance so far. Wouldn't be surprised to see us drop a bit in later rankings.
Gmathiasf - A fringe top 25 team for a couple seasons, they exploded early this season with a big win over Marblehead and some other quality wins.
joemiken - Scrimmage schedule makes up for a weak conference schedule so far.
NiborRis - WWR has the gold cup, but that was then. This team is looking very solid right now and it was a tough call for me to keep them out of #1.
jtserb - Very nice win against Marblehead. Game against Krazy coming up will show a lot.
lukin83 - Unstoppable

6 . Bonn Dynamo (WEPL) … 613.0 , 1 … ( 10 - 0 ) … Colley = 3 … LARS = 9 … SOS = 34

boomer82 - Off to a fantastic start, can they keep it up?
Nuge20 - Best team in GLB, handles their business and wins by huge margins, only 1 close game all year against a solid top 25 contender
tycoon34 - with unheard of wins against known and former top 25 teams, Bonn is marching towards a revolutionary season for them.
james128 - Should be interesting to see them play some of the top teams in glb
Voltron - Have I ever Ranked a WEPL team this high? Dominating everyone they play even ESL
Rodion - undefeated and no wins by less than 18 mean they crack my top 10
Paraboon - Blowout wins vs decent teams, 1 big time win vs ESL. Possibly a top 5 team by the time next rankings roll out, needs a tougher schedule.
Gmathiasf - Dominated early. WWW has been their only real challenge so far. They need a more premier match up some time and if they keep moving along in tourney's they'll bump into someone.
joemiken - Influx of former Las Vegas Freebirds' have really bolstered this team. They've won big this season, but not one over a Top 25 team. Upcoming schedule next week will really test them.
NiborRis - They aren't just winning, they are crushing people in every aspect of the game.
lukin83 - Slaughtering not only WEPL but OPL, USAPL, and SEAPL, as well!

7 . Drygerian Hoblosion (CPL) … 590.0 , 0 … ( 6 - 0 ) … Colley = 16 … LARS = 35 … SOS = 114

boomer82 - Great team name or greatest team name?
Nuge20 - MOST TALENTED TEAM IN GLB IMO
tycoon34 - Dooley scares me. Like most teams this early, needs more scrim wins, but I can't imagine Drygerian not blowing through any team they want to save maybe Santiago.
Voltron - Not much competition left in CPL this season.
Rodion - Garsheme
Gmathiasf - Might be the best team in GLB. Will they care enough to show up for the tourneys since they can pretty much sleep walk through CPL with the exception of Marblehead?
joemiken - conference games...boring. Scrimmage games...boring.
NiborRis - they haven't been tested, but they're loaded. I feel like they should be higher than a couple of the above teams, but I'm not sure which ones. This should shake out later in the season.
lukin83 - Flawless, but have not faced elite competition...maybe they don't know how to get to Drygerian...wherever the hell that is...

8 . Minnesota Marauders (USAPL) … 531.0 , 0 … ( 7 - 0 ) … Colley = 4 … LARS = 12 … SOS = 44

boomer82 - Very nice win over HHW, only undefeated team left in USA West
tycoon34 - a weak scrim schedule and the knowledge of them usually falling late keeps MM from being in everybody's top 5.
Rodion - undefeated in USA Pro West, beating HHW by 21 is their best feat so far
Gmathiasf - Off to a great start. Will they keep it up?
joemiken - One of the highest leveled teams in GLB have looked very strong this season.
NiborRis - only team in USAPL West without a loss.
lukin83 - Some impressive wins in USAPL

9 . Marblehead Longhorns (CPL) … 512.0 , 0 … ( 8 - 1 ) … Colley = 20 … LARS = 18 … SOS = 101

boomer82 - Slight slip against DD, expecting this team to right the ship and battle Drygerian for the CPL East title.
Nuge20 - Strong Showing in CPL thus far, scrimmages have been pretty good too
tycoon34 - One loss to DD but the Longhorns are still pulling along
Rodion - loss to DD drops them from top 4 to 12 - best non-undefeated team in my book
Gmathiasf - Took down Drinkin' to get into TOC.
joemiken - Lackluster conference schedule, but some good scrimmage wins so far.
lukin83 - A weak CPL schedule so far, but tearing it up in tournament play outside of an expected loss to DD

10 . Monmouth Evil Monkeys (USAPL) … 498.0 , 0 … ( 8 - 1 ) … Colley = 13 … LARS = 39 … SOS = 59

boomer82 - Head scratcher against Lincoln, rebounded nicely to beat a great Wolfpack team
Nuge20 - Solid, definitely a top 10 team
tycoon34 - Still a top team, and would have been top 3 if it wasn't for the loss to Lincoln
Voltron - Only a couple decent wins and the one good team they play they lose too
Rodion - beat WW
Gmathiasf - Will as usual be a top 10 team when all is said and done.
joemiken - Lost a bad one to Lincoln, but bounced back by beating Washington. Scrimmage schedule hasn't been that outstanding this season either.
jtserb - I am thinking loss to Lincoln was the exception rather than the rule. Solid victory over the Wolfpack
lukin83 - A lapse against Lincoln, but otherwise flawless

11 . Washington Wolfpack (USAPL) … 480.0 , 0 … ( 7 - 1 ) … Colley = 10 … LARS = 28 … SOS = 15

boomer82 - Approaching the harder part of their schedule, very close loss to Monmouth where they had a decided total yards advantage.
tycoon34 - once Washington starts winning in some tournaments, they'll move up in the rankings
Rodion - no wins over 15 points and a loss to Monmouth almost drop them out of the top 25
Gmathiasf - Have a great resume, but some close games against teams they should be better than. This team could easily have a couple losses at this point.
joemiken - Damn you Wolfpack for screwing up my rankings.
jtserb - Loss to Evil Monkeys keeps them out of my top 10, but I expect them to be there soon.
lukin83 - Started off the season with a gimme against the Steel, but have competed with stiff competition ever since

12 . Windhoek White Rhinos (APL) … 450.0 , 0 … ( 8 - 0 ) … Colley = 8 … LARS = 2 … SOS = 77

boomer82 - Have looked good so far, 6/30 game against Krazy will be their first real test.
tycoon34 - two APL teams in the top ten ? maybe. WWR is looking p good so far this season.
Rodion - the great "surprise" of the season - excellent wins and a fishy KR/PR make them the 4th best in my book
Paraboon - The 2 time defending APL champ looks to be better than ever, look for there Punt Returner to be busted for steriods very soon.
Gmathiasf - This team is for real.
joemiken - Impressive wins, but lack a big time win like DD got over Marblehead. Krazy Monkeys next week could be that win.
NiborRis - APL is showing up in force this season. WWR is breaking out into tournaments this season; they could end up as a top 5 team before too long.
jtserb - Look good so far. Match up against Krazy on the 30th..
lukin83 - Now that they are playing in tournaments, we can see just how good they actually are

13 . Indianapolis Gurupies (USAPL) … 433.0 , 0 … ( 10 - 0 ) … Colley = 5 … LARS = 4 … SOS = 50

boomer82 - Crushing a lot of teams including a dominating win over Mata-Utu
Nuge20 - Easily one of the best in USAPL so far but can they sustain??
tycoon34 - Watch out for this team!
Voltron - Convinicing wins over other USA teams.
Rodion - a team that came from nowhere to a top 15 pick - being undefeated in USA Pro East helped their cause
Gmathiasf - Big schedule coming up.
joemiken - WTF is a Gurupie? Well, they're 5-0 in league play with three solid wins over three good teams.
lukin83 - Just playing solid dotball

14 . Lake Opeta Legionnaires (APL) … 420.0 , 0 … ( 8 - 0 ) … Colley = 11 … LARS = 26 … SOS = 108

boomer82 - Again, probably better than I have them ranked (17) but they have yet to be tested.
tycoon34 - I didn't see the day where I'd personally rank LOL behind two other APL teams.
Rodion - this great team forces me to have 3 APL teams in my top 10
Paraboon - Jedi Knight and crew have LOL rolling along once more.
Gmathiasf - Finally aren't the only torchbearer for APL.
joemiken - Really haven't played anyone, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
NiborRis - Been a while since I considered LOL to be the 3rd best APL team
jtserb - Game coming up against Marauders (USAPL) should be a good one
Lukin83 - Tearing up APL, as usual

15 . Emmaus Fighting Green Hornets (EEPL) … 419.0 , 0 … ( 8 - 0 ) … Colley = 18 … LARS = 23 … SOS = 125

boomer82 - Have looked good so far, can they make the leap and start to challenge the big boys?
Nuge20 - EEPL is pretty weak compared to the top conferences but this team is the strongest of the group
tycoon34 - had a little scare in league play week 5, but still showing their EEPL and world dominance. 39 game win streak!
Rodion - had a very close game against an unkown team today, but they are the best non-top 10 team
Paraboon - Should be higher, but very weak schedule pushes them out of the top 10.
Gmathiasf - Still looking for an elite win somewhere.
joemiken - Are they ever going to lose a game in EE conference play?
jtserb - They have to give me a big win for me to move them up.
lukin83 - Tearing through EEPL again, but would love to see more games against the rest of the world

16 . Lincoln Navigators (USAPL) … 376.5 , 0 … ( 6 - 1 ) … Colley = 21 … LARS = 21 … SOS = 79

boomer82 - Huge win over Monmouth says more to me than a couple of odd losses.
tycoon34 - probably a top 5 scrim schedule to this point, but that little blemish in interconference play keeps Lincoln from appearing on voters' #1 spot
Voltron - Big win over MEM puts them up here (9)
Rodion - beat Monmouth
Gmathiasf - NJ Blaze loss baffling?
joemiken - Lost to Jersey in Week 1, but the beatdown of Monmouth shows that they've righted the ship. This team is going to surprise some people this season.
NiborRis - Got a nice win over MEM, but took a loss to the Blaze. We'll see where they end up in the US West, which is looking pretty stacked this season (like always)
jtserb - Win against Monmouth puts them on the map and in the top 10.
lukin83 - They're back!

17 . Drinkin Hellraisers (CPL) … 318.0 , 0 … ( 8 - 3 ) … Colley = 40 … LARS = 46 … SOS = 56

Nuge20 - Strong Showing in CPL thus far, scrimmages have been pretty good too
tycoon34 - Some tough scrim losses to teams that deservedly rank ahead of them...but the rest of the teams don't necessarily have better wins then Drinkin'
Gmathiasf - Complacency in league play leading to complacency elsewhere?
joemiken - Losing to Santiago is one thing...but West Wales?
lukin83 - Losing to West Wales hurts
NiborRis - They haven't been able to beat anyone worthwhile this season, going 0-3 in their toughest games. They need to step it up to make the list this season as there are a lot of teams waiting in the wings.

18 . Honolulu Hurricane Warriors (USAPL) … 215.5 , 0 … ( 7 - 2 ) … Colley = 19 … LARS = 31 … SOS = 30

boomer82 - A couple early losses hurt but they have the elite defense to rebound strongly.
tycoon34 - Has some good wins against WEPL, but not much else. Good record in USAPL though.
Rodion - just below Korb and just above Stewart
joemiken - Up and down team this season.
lukin83 - Losses to Korb and Minnesota are not going to drop them far

19 . Stewart Ballers (EEPL) … 192.5 , 0 … ( 8 - 1 ) … Colley = 17 … LARS = 49 … SOS = 82

boomer82 - Only blemish is a tight loss to HHW, victory against Korb looks stronger by the day.
Voltron - Quality wins and Two missed XPs would have taken HHW into overtime
Rodion - the Samoa thriller cost them a possible lead in the 3-way tie between Korb, HHW and themselves
NiborRis - The other EEPL team; put up a good show in their PWT group against HHW and Korb, but may fall just short of advancement by not beating the samoa gangsters by enough.

20 . Nairobi Warthogs (APL) … 138.5 , 0 … ( 6 - 0 ) … Colley = 23 … LARS = 20 … SOS = 150

boomer82 - Stomping of PDD got them on my radar, will be watching this Friday's matchup with WWR very closely.
tycoon34 - another one of APL's up and rising teams.
Rodion - easy schedule, but winning convincingly and still undefeated
Gmathiasf - A name to learn this season.
joemiken - Making some real noise this year with the addition of a bunch of ex-Green Bay Mauler talent.
NiborRis - yet another undefeated APL team that's looking strong. League play will help sort them out, I hope.
lukin83 - Flawless, although their schedule has not been too rough so far

21 . North Delta Huskies (CPL) … 113.5 , 0 … ( 6 - 1 ) … Colley = 25 … LARS = 14 … SOS = 57

boomer82 - Undefeated so far in CPL West and played Cincy closer than anyone else has so far.
Rodion - only loss came to a great Shockers team and it was only by 11
joemiken - Played Cincy closer than anyone else this season and followed it up with wins over Stalingrad and Molokai.
NiborRis - May deserve to be higher, but they need to face some more top teams besides the Shockers before I can really figure them out.
lukin83 - Hanging with Drinkin in CPL

22 . Korb Destroyers (WEPL) … 97.0 , 0 … ( 7 - 2 ) … Colley = 15 … LARS = 24 … SOS = 8

boomer82 - The third of the "rock paper scissors" trio, wish I could see this team against Bonn in the regular season.
Rodion - really par with HHW and Stewart as the 3-way tie suggests, they'll get the nod over beating Samoa convincingly
joemiken - Big wins over Honolulu makes up for the loss to Edinburgh.
NiborRis - beat HHW, beat BFM, beat the team that beat MUV, moving to the brackets in the PWT and still in Hazy's.
lukin83 - Destroying quality teams across the globe

23 . Bandar Lampung Pigskin Pirates (SEAPL) … 83.5 , 0 … ( 8 - 1 ) … Colley = 38 … LARS = 82 … SOS = 191

boomer82 - Defending SEAPL champ has yet to allow over 10 points in a league game.
tycoon34 - hasn't been tested in league play yet, but a pair of nice scrim wins.
joemiken - They've beaten every gutjob SE Asia has thrown at them, but loss to Warsaw hurts.

24 . New Jersey Blaze (USAPL) … 83.5 , 0 … ( 4 - 2 ) … Colley = 28 … LARS = 22 … SOS = 2

boomer82 - Debated back and forth if they should be ranked or on my bubble, decided to rank them. For a first season Pro team they're doing quite well.
tycoon34 - I want to see this team tested interleague, but I can see them winning out with Cincy and OFG out of the way.
Rodion - 2 losses coming from top 10 teams, still have a nice season - beat Lincoln
Gmathiasf - Nice start to their Pros.
joemiken - Tough loss to Cincy today.
NiborRis - losing to the O and the Shockers isn't that much of a black mark; beating lincoln is a nice win, though.
jtserb - Beat Lincoln and played ***O*** tough, played Cincy tough for a half.
lukin83 - Only losses are to USAPL powerhouses Cincy and *O*

25 . Edinburgh Black Knights (WEPL) … 78.0 , 0 … ( 5 - 0 ) … Colley = 14 … LARS = 38 … SOS = 133

Rodion - best WEPL team
joemiken - Solid wins over Korb and BFM.
NiborRis - 5-0 including BFM and Korb; they'll need a quality run in WEPL to stay here though.

▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂

The Bubble 7:

Kingston Uprising (OPL) … 77.0 , 0 … ( 6 - 1 ) … Colley = 22 … LARS = 42 … SOS = 58

tycoon34 - OPL zeta is still not a cakewalk, even with the departure of Osaka, and the Uprising are undefeated.
Voltron - Oceania has to have atleast one top 25 team right?
Rodion - best OPL team, barely a top 25 material, though
Gmathiasf - Best team in OPL?
joemiken - Huge win against So Cal for them today. Definitely a team on the rise.
NiborRis - My best OPL team right now, by virtue of beating So Cal BDC. Only loss to WWR isn't too bad, but need to stay strong in OPL to stay here.
lukin83 - Favorites in OPL after knocking off Samoa and BDC

So Cal BDC (OPL) … 70.0 , 0 … ( 6 - 2 ) … Colley = 42 … LARS = 48 … SOS = 97

boomer82 - So close to beating WW, couldn't quite get it done. Wop-Wops win is better than it looks imo.
Paraboon - Good win over Wop Wops
joemiken - Loss to Kingston today was a tough one.

Macchu Picchu Hidden Dragons (SAPL) … 63.5 , 0 … ( 6 - 2 ) … Colley = 27 … LARS = 40 … SOS = 19

tycoon34 - Taut might finally have something going with the only losses coming from MEM and Santiago
Voltron - Only two losses were to MEM and Benitos. Were beating MEM heading into 4th quarter
Rodion - lost to Benitos, close loss to Monmouth - good enough for the last top 25 pick
Gmathiasf - Just wait until next year.
joemiken - Played MEM close and their only other loss was to the Benitos.

Seychelles Island Sea Wolves (APL) … 50.0 , 0 … ( 6 - 2 ) … Colley = 53 … LARS = 45 … SOS = 144

tycoon34 - The win against Lincoln probably keeps them on this list.
Voltron - Close losses to a good USA Pro and SAPro team

Osaka Buckeyes (SAPL) … 34.5 , 0 … ( 5 - 2 ) … Colley = 73 … LARS = 104 … SOS = 178

joemiken - Have faired much better than that other OPL refugee. Still haven't played anyone worth a damn though.
jtserb - Need to get it in gear soon or risk of falling off of the bubble.

Manus Thunder (SAPL) … 34.0 , 0 … ( 5 - 1 ) … Colley = 37 … LARS = 57 … SOS = 126

turnit643 - Manus was a hot pick late last season, they'll have to earn it all over again in Season 10.

Mata-Utu Voodoo (OPL) … 33.0 , 0 … ( 6 - 2 ) … Colley = 43 … LARS = 41 … SOS = 75

jtserb - Has some nice wins.
lukin83 - Right up there with Kingston in OPL, although the loss to Tasmania stings
