Thanks for the response. I went and read the other forum you posted the lik for. Year there are some good ideas there but still. I think AT least narrowing the randomness for a position would be good or let the player decide. I just hate that I name a OT the "colossal crusher" and he turns out to be 5'10". He is kind of small for the line.

A suggestion just to throw it out similar to one in the other thread would be to give users the choices when they create their players:

Short, Average, Tall
And
Light, Average, Heavy

Of course you could set ranges for each of these so there would still be some randomness to it. (Use Pro athlete averages not regular)

Tall could be 6'3"-6'8"
Average 5'11"-6'2"

Heavy could range from 350-450 etc.

This way I could make a short stock guy, or a tall lanky guy or a big dude and there would still be some randomness to it because each chosen field would have a range.

What do ya think.

Yes, i hope we all start from 0 after this season. Good time to recruit new testers if needed, that way everyone starts at the same level.

Stats would work great here. Make it so its a normal curve (bell curve). WR for example:

5'10 2%
5'11 8%
6'0 15%
6'1 25%
6'2 25%
6'3 15%
6'4 8%
6'5 2%

That way a high majority are in the "normal" range of 6'-6'3, but you still have some Randy Moss's and Steve Smith's (actually 5'9)

I agree, but I think folks will still complain until they can customize it to whatever they want. I think people have an idea of what kind of guy they want to make when they start, and that usually includes ht/wt.

I'm working to make that happen for new players next season.

Thats true, but I kind of like the randomness. Without it you will have 90% 6'4 WR's running around, and 90% 6'2 CB's. This isnt realistic, but in the NFL it seems to be the ideal.

I agree thats why I said keep some randomness in it but at the same time you don't want a LB that is 5'10" and 190lbs.

And thanks Bort I look forward to being able to have those options.

I like the bell curve... sometimes you'll get screwed, but maybe if you get screwed another player could be more likely to hit the jackpot

Thats just it, its not necessarily getting screwed, you just wont be much of a jumping WR if your 5'10.

I really dont think anyone believes Steve Smith got screwed by his height. Only bad thing for him is his QB's are awful. Delhomme is decent when not injured, but just think how good Smith would have been playing with Favre his whole career. He would be the best WR in history at 5'9

Ya, Id go minimum for LB is 210 and 5'11. There are a decent amount of successfull "short" LBers

I don't remember the order of these things, but if there is any randomness to height/weight, it would be really good to see those BEFORE getting points to distribute.

If I get a short WR, I'll most likely change how he plays a bit.

With all my guys I just didn't spend their points at first, and went back to their player page, checked their sizes and went from there. But yea, anybody new to the game wouldn't know to do that so It might be a good thing to have the height/weight show when your player is first created.
